  1. HP Announce R Series Flatbed Latex printer

Did HP say this machine will use the disposable printheads, I did't see that. again I think the big issue here will be curing the ink, traditionally latex needs tons of heat to cure, on a flatbed heat=warping=headstrikes. Hey wait a minute, maybe that's it, throw the print heads away every...
  2. HP Announce R Series Flatbed Latex printer

I was always under the impression that heat was the enemy with flatbeds especially with pvc, styrene and coro. I'll be interested to see how they deal with curing the latex inks without warping the hell out of the substrates.
  3. Are there any quality standards?

I'm glad somebody said it, I was looking for 5 minutes to try and see the issue with these 2 examples, aside from the gap between the panels being a bit on the large side, I think it looks fine, much better than a lot of stuff you see.
  4. MDO replacement

The plywood with aluminum faces is called Nu-Alum up here and i've had quite a few issues with it delaminating in a short period of time, even with proper edge sealing on the wood, as a result I don't use it any more. I really wish you could get ACM in 0.5" -0.75" thicknesses, it would work...

  6. MDO replacement

for some applications yes, we used to use MDO a lot for construction signs, then we switched to 10 mm coroplast, less expensive and much lighter, just as durable.
  7. Tell me something.....

I noticed that today, every single item I looked at was out of stock, I assumed it was a bug with the new site, but lately their stock levels do leave much to be desired.
  8. Summa DC5SX sticker vinyl

Polyester prints very well on our Gerber edge which is thermal. It's outdoor durability is on par or better than vinyl. We use "Gerber labelstock" but I'm sure with the summa there are more options.
  9. HP360 Lamination Problems

Isn't HP's biggest selling feature that prints can be laminated and applied immediately after printing? So now they are claiming you need to wait around the same time as an eco-sol machine...interesting...

  11. Summa DC5SX sticker vinyl

what about a polyester material? with the summa you should be able to print on it and it's a bit more rigid than vinyl.
  12. Eco Sol Max Black Ink Scratching

Did you really expect anything unlaminated to hold up against a group of toddlers with toy cars? I have a 3 year old and i'm amazed my house is still standing most days.
  13. New model HP Latex printers for 2018?

Don't worry about having the latest and greatest, every time I've sprung for brand new released equipment it's been full of bugs and kinks that the manufacturer expects you to R&D for them on your dime
  14. SUV that can haul a 4x8

I think there is a 4wd version of the dodge grand caravan, which can fit a 4x8 in the back, best of all with the stow and go seats you don't need to remove them, they fold into the floor.
  15. House sign fabrication advice

Depends on what kind of market/price point you are trying to hit. Cut vinyl on a flat aluminum sheet is pretty low end to be honest, but it will appeal to some people. At the price you would be able to sell a flat vinyl sign for, 8 years is pretty good value. Now if you were selling a $300...

  19. Need Help Color Mismatch on lighted sign, any fix other than remake?

are these 2 panels right next to each other? Colour matching a backlit sign is difficult enough even without having to match an old existing sign. If they absolutly have to match both day and night, you need to remake both sign panels.
  20. Need Help Mimaki UCJV-300 vs Epson 80600

The 2 printers use the same ink, with the exception of the Orange & Red in the S80600, which are by far the least used inks in the machine (I change out 2-4 CMYK carts to every 1 orange) Do you have any specs or anything showing the orange & red inks are less durable?
