  1. ROLAND VP-540 Will not power up

That is why there is no point asking AI compared to someone who has actually worked on the specific board in question :D
  2. ROLAND VP-540 Will not power up

It isnt a component. The problem is with the design of the board and the connections. With age and the board flexing through heat and cooling it causes cracks in the connections. Heating these makes the tracks expand and make a connection again, but they disconnect when it cools again and the...
  3. ROLAND VP-540 Will not power up

You would need to test the crystals first to see if they were working before replacing them.It may have worked on that VP, but isnt the problem most of them have, it is actually with the way the board was designed
  4. ROLAND VP-540 Will not power up

It very much depends on the issue. If it's a power issue on the board, and you can get it repaired for £100 then it is well worth not scrapping the printer for that amount ( I had repaired quite a few mainboards with power issues over the years ). I agree the network problems can't be fixed by...
  5. ROLAND VP-540 Will not power up

Yes have repaired a few. It can be lots of things that cause it so depends on the board
  6. VP540 parts

Just be careful with Digiprint that you are buying genuine items as they sell a lot of cheap chinese copies as original!
  7. ROLAND VP-540 Will not power up

No problem, the caps are something always worth checking anyway. It is unusual for them to fail on a VP board though, I see this only occasionally, but worth giving a go. If you do decide to change them, be very careful desoldering them as it can lift the pads !
  8. ROLAND VP-540 Will not power up

Hi Adam, just replied to your ebay message as well, feel free to message me on here :)
  9. ROLAND VP-540 Will not power up

The fuses and head transistors on the mainboard don't have anything to do with the power. You need to trace the power from the input through the board, test voltages to the chips, check caps, transistors, regulators, look for shorts etc.. To be honest it's not something easy to do if you don't...
  10. SP 300i : doesn't do self cleaning properly...

You really don't need to be self cleaning every 8 hours, once every 24 hours is fine. It will clean when in use anyway if you are printing all day with it
  11. SP 300i : doesn't do self cleaning properly...

The pump should always activate during a self clean as that is part of the process. Sometimes though the printer will come on and just move the head off the captop and back but not actually do a clean. Without reading back, did you change the pump and pump motor as it could be one of them is...
  12. ROLAND VS540 printing random marks in artwork

You can also use the normal board, set the potentiometer then use a drop of superglue on it to keep it in place :)
  13. Roland SP540V display board issue

Someone who is experienced in board diagnosis and has all the proper equipment ( expensive ) could test it, but it would cost you more than just replacing the board to be honest. It may be a main board problem, but when these go bad they don't tend to cause display problems. SPVs are getting to...
  14. Need Help Xc540 printer help needed

Replace your captops and do an overnight head soak and a couple of powerful cleans the next day and see if it improves. Is quite likely though the heads will need replacing if it has been left unused as they will clog and it isn't normally possible to rescue them
  15. ROLAND VS540 printing random marks in artwork

The black channel on the head is getting bad signals making it turn on when it shouldn't. There are a few possible causes, most common is the long cables from the print carriage board to the mainboard, It could also be the short head cable, the print carriage board or a transistor problem on the...
  16. Roland SP540V display board issue

It is most likely the chip on the display board is failing. There isn't any way to fix this really. I have replacement working boards in stock if you need one.
  17. SP 300i : doesn't do self cleaning properly...

It is very strange, where did you get the mainboard from?
  18. SP 300i : doesn't do self cleaning properly...

A board can fail at any time, so it is still possible that is the problem
  19. SP 300i : doesn't do self cleaning properly...

I have a feeling your mainboard is failing so it is not sending the auto clean routine. One thing you can try is replacing the battery on the mainboard. This stores the time and date data, so it's a possibility if the printer is losing this when it is turned off it doesn't think it needs to do...
  20. Roland VS Damper change

Get a technician to do it! That way if they mess it up they have to fix it. It is very easy to damage the head doing it
