I'm not that familiar with Mimaki printers, but your tech is quite possibly correct about it not using that RAM. I don't know what the cap values are, you would need to see if you can get a schematic for the printer and work it out from there. The main thing though is to try and find out why...

Check your cutting strip for any deep grooves and replace if needed. Also, oil the bearing in the blade holder. The blade needs to be able to spin freely otherwise it will tear the vinyl when it changes direction

If you print using density control only in versaworks, and make sure yellow is pure yellow on the artwork it will print only using the yellow head and give you the best result

It could well be the transistors if you still aren't getting any output. Where are you based as I do board repairs and test and replace transistors. I'm in the UK If you aren't near you can take the board to an electronics repair shop and they would be able to test and replace for you

Unless you are are using it constantly every day and running it into the ground, then it is better to keep it going. Properly maintained they should last for 10 years plus, and the technology doesn't change that much, so selling a perfectly good machine at 3 years doesn't make much financial sense.

If cleaning didn't work, replace the encoder scale and sensor. They can fail over time and they aren't expensive, so better to replace both then you know you are starting with working good parts

Do a really thorough manual clean, and also clean the wipers and around the wiper station. As Joe says, that is normally down to a hair or fibre on the print head, and they can be very hard to see

How were they running it for years with no cartridges fitted? The only way you can do that is if you modify the wiring of the printer, otherwise it will always be asking for the cartridges to be inserted as they aren't designed to run without them in...

It seems to be a general with most white solvent ink. The pigment in it seems to be larger or more prone to clogging than the normal colours

One of the main issues is if you do get a faulty head from them ( which plenty of people seem to ) they refuse to refund or replace. They will tell you to return it so their 'expert technicians' can inspect them, which takes a couple of months.

I have used straight acetone in the past just to get a completely blocked head partially working for testing printers. It definitely works a lot better than straight cleaning solution just for experimenting
