  1. Color problem on Roland SP-540I

Try changing your profile to density control only in versaworks. This will print black just using the black head, rather than a mix of colours. This can often give a better more solid black
  2. Need Help Mimaki jv100 error. System halt (2) b1f:pcb sldrm 1

I'm not that familiar with Mimaki printers, but your tech is quite possibly correct about it not using that RAM. I don't know what the cap values are, you would need to see if you can get a schematic for the printer and work it out from there. The main thing though is to try and find out why...
  3. SP-300V solid cuts look like sloppy perf cuts

If you lube them regularly they should keep going for ages. The one in my 15 year old SP is only the second holder I have had to buy for it
  4. SP-300V solid cuts look like sloppy perf cuts

No problem. It is normally worth adding a drop of oil every month as part of your monthly mini service just to keep it all running smoothly
  5. Roland Vp540 Printing issues - Fuse?

Hi Mark, have replied to your message
  6. SP-300V solid cuts look like sloppy perf cuts

Check your cutting strip for any deep grooves and replace if needed. Also, oil the bearing in the blade holder. The blade needs to be able to spin freely otherwise it will tear the vinyl when it changes direction
  7. Roland Vp540 Printing issues - Fuse?

Oh just saw you are in suffolk :) Feel free to DM me if you want me to check and repair for you
  8. Roland Versacamm SP-300, FlexiSign Pro, MY YELLOW IS NOT VERY YELLOW

If you print using density control only in versaworks, and make sure yellow is pure yellow on the artwork it will print only using the yellow head and give you the best result
  9. Roland Vp540 Printing issues - Fuse?

It could well be the transistors if you still aren't getting any output. Where are you based as I do board repairs and test and replace transistors. I'm in the UK If you aren't near you can take the board to an electronics repair shop and they would be able to test and replace for you
  10. Roland Print/Cut Resale Value

Unless you are are using it constantly every day and running it into the ground, then it is better to keep it going. Properly maintained they should last for 10 years plus, and the technology doesn't change that much, so selling a perfectly good machine at 3 years doesn't make much financial sense.
  11. I've got a SP540i, Been using for years. Now throwing a service code 0110 VERY ODD!!

If cleaning didn't work, replace the encoder scale and sensor. They can fail over time and they aren't expensive, so better to replace both then you know you are starting with working good parts
  12. Roland - Black Lines

Do a really thorough manual clean, and also clean the wipers and around the wiper station. As Joe says, that is normally down to a hair or fibre on the print head, and they can be very hard to see
  13. STUcK...Rowland VersaCamm VP 540i....STUcK

If it was left for a long time with no cartridges in it it's possible the sensors aren't working. Each dock you put the cartridge into has two sensors. One tells the printer a cartridge is inserted, and one tells it the colour is correct. It could just be the insert sensors are gummed up and...
  14. STUcK...Rowland VersaCamm VP 540i....STUcK

How were they running it for years with no cartridges fitted? The only way you can do that is if you modify the wiring of the printer, otherwise it will always be asking for the cartridges to be inserted as they aren't designed to run without them in...
  15. STUcK...Rowland VersaCamm VP 540i....STUcK

Ah ok, if you are only going to use it for cutting then personally I would sell it for what you bought it for an spend the money on a dedicated cutter instead. Print and cut machines are a lot more complicated than dedicated cutters, so there is a lot more that can go wrong that you may need to...
  16. STUcK...Rowland VersaCamm VP 540i....STUcK

OK, the printer doesn't know if heads are blocked or not, that is not the problem. Doing a head soak will only clear very lightly clogged heads. After the amount of time this printer has not been used then it will need all new heads, you have pretty much zero chance of recovering them. You will...
  17. Roland VS 540 change to Metallic White

It seems to be a general with most white solvent ink. The pigment in it seems to be larger or more prone to clogging than the normal colours
  18. Need Help Genuine Roland print head

One of the main issues is if you do get a faulty head from them ( which plenty of people seem to ) they refuse to refund or replace. They will tell you to return it so their 'expert technicians' can inspect them, which takes a couple of months.
  19. Roland VS 540 change to Metallic White

Unless you are printing a LOT of white, like hours every day, then it isn't really worth doing. The white ink is a bit of a nightmare. If not used regularly it clogs very easily and also the printer will use a lot more of it doing auto cleaning etc... If you only need it for odd jobs you are...
  20. Problem head rank number

I have used straight acetone in the past just to get a completely blocked head partially working for testing printers. It definitely works a lot better than straight cleaning solution just for experimenting
