I just asked my rep. Grimco did purchase them to become the parent company back in October. They are operating as: DBA Midwest Sign. My rep said it has been all positive from their standpoint so far.
I went from the first 3 versions of the HP Latex, to an Epson S70 and now the S80. The colors on the S80 are amazing! Bright reds and oranges are easy to hit!
I really like my S80. I did recently get sample prints from the Roland and I don't think overall they look as good as my Epson. I would go with the S80.

For the software to run it, Summa has their own software you need to use with it. Either SummaFlex Pro or GoProduce.
I agree about the Astute plugins. They are one of the main things keeping me using illustrator. I am hoping Affinity will allow for 3rd party plugins soon. I have asked Astute Graphics about other programs and they said it was up to them to allow it.

I beg to differ! The print quality is amazing! I haven't seen anything built like this. And for $80k, I wouldn't call it expensive. No, you won't get 50 boards per hour, but if you are looking at this, that's not your goal anyways.
I had this on my S80, about 4 years old. I always had perfect nozzle checks, then black started to go out slowly. Then got an error which lead to a head replacement.
I just had the same error on my S80. Replaced one and it worked, then lost a channel totally on the other head. End up replacing them both, $4400 later. haha. Mine is 4 years old.
I have a Summa F. The kiss cut and drag knife do the same thing. The difference is the kiss cut knife is used in a tangential module. It is cuts better, especially on small details.
