    I've made a suggestion to Roland that they should build in a laser line that shoots across the cutting strip to help line up the crop marks perfectly, they think it's a great idea but 6 years later no sign of it.

    in that case, you are at the whim of the other sign company. I would never rent out my equipment to a competitor, if I have a good relationship with the other shop I might lend them a piece of equipment for a short period of time no charge or I would refuse.

    I have never heard of someone renting a plotter, where do you even rent one from? if you are renting, I assume your volume needs are low, so why would you rent the equipment vs. just buying the finished product from a sign shop?

    no, my experience with UV prints is that the quality is less than a solvent or latex print, but they are more durable in some applications.

    I've had clients do this with proofs we send them, sometimes it helps reassure them that they made the correct decision, other times it has led to a cluster**** with all their friends giving their uninformed opinion and clouding the clients mind.
