Our VS was an amazing machine, slow but it was a tank, never had an issue with in the 5 years we owned it, traded it in on the VG 640 and the nightmare begain. in the end, Roland swapped the VG 3 times for new ones since they couldn't get it to work properly, we got them to swap us to a XR-640...

do you mean VG? Our VG 640 was set up as dual CMYK, and when it was working, it was an amazing printer, the issue was, it was broken more often than it was working.

Another thing to look out for, ours was giving us horrible banding after printing around 20 feet of material, it printed perfectly up untill around the 20 foot mark than it started banding like crazy, completely ruined a few banners that way! Also for your records, 2 of our 3 tru viz machines...

I ran a true vis vg640 for a year and a half, we now run an Epson surecolor. My experience with the tru vis was not a positive one, I won't go into detail on here in the open due to some ongoing issues, but if you want to PM me I can go into detail.

It will continue to print as long as one of the bags has ink in it. You will get a flashing light on top of the empty bag but the printer will still run as normal.

Did your dealer offer any type of warrantee on the printer? I would be calling them in.

I'm still not sure that is correct, up until 2 days ago I've only ever run Roland printers for the last 13 years, I know Roland says that the Roland colour system library prints the same colour across all medias, But i havn't found that to be true, someone else with more experience in colour...

Not true at all, there are a ton of pantone colours that the roland machines (or any digital printer for that matter) can't hit, certainly out of the box no printer is going to just print pantone colours perfectly, there is a ton of work involved in getting correct colour.

I would be around $175 each, but there are guys around here who would do it for $75 each.

We use the power tape for most of our banners, no issues in 4 years, I think it looks cleaner since you dont have the fold over. I wouldn't use it for any heavy duty banners, but for day to day stuff it's great.
