  1. Software for Summa Plotter?

Curious what everyone is using for Summa Plotters to send cut jobs over? We've been using Sign Cut Pro for about 9 years on our PC to send cut jobs to our older Summacut D60, and every time we upgrade the software for new features, we end up spending two or three days trying to get the plotter...
  2. Roland SP540v ripping but not printing

Ours would do this when cutting once in a while with crop marks. I think we'd just restart the machine, turn printer off and leave unplugged for a few minutes from the wall, then turn everything back on and try again. Look into anti-virus above as described as well...we run our rip printer...
  3. Roland SP-300V Banding problem??

Those encoder strips on the 300V get dirty too damn often. Once they start to get real dirty your only option is to replace it. You can try flipping it upside down, taking it out and really cleaning it, but eventually just replace it and save the headache.
  4. Roland SP-300V Banding problem??

That's a great looking carbon fiber pattern....can you send that to me?! First one I've seen that looks decent
  5. What is a used 54" SP 540 V Roland Print cut worth

We were looking at a used VS540 machine for 9k a year ago and went for a new one....that SP is a dinosaur for only 500 less. 7k, if the heads are good.
  6. Contour Cut Question Roland, Flexi, Versaworks

What does that margin adjustment do? Ours is 0.00in and we never have issues?
  7. CANVAS PRINTING VERSACAMM 54vsi

We run same VS540i using Magic's GCVFM Canvas (I think that's what it's called) and print using SGC profile with zero issues. Heaters never change no matter what material we run -- at 100F both heaters.
  8. Light Cyan and Light Magenta

Just think of Light Magenta and Light Cyan as blending colors rather than full colors. Going from dark blue to light blue (in a sky for example) you'll get a better gradient and more natural tones. On faces is where it's supposed to really shine. We do a TON of stickers - not photo prints, but...
  9. Correct Color (Mike Adams) Thank You!

Sounds awesome! And if you don't mind me asking, what did he charge you? and which printers are you running that he did the profiling on? This review really has me sold on it...
  10. Adhesive Backed Paper stock? For paper labels?

We are charging plenty. And we would make profit. But it's still too expensive Paper with an adhesive back should be CHEAPER than a roll of mid grade vinyl in my opinion...We are trying to get as close to what the customer is currently selling now that she has outgrown her own capacity,so there...
  11. It's time to buy a little plotter...

Tangential is STILL a drag knife, it just picks up the blade an twists it on he corners. You really wish for tangential over a wider plotter? Unless you're doing clear bra I just don't see the value
  12. Adhesive Backed Paper stock? For paper labels?

I know roland also makes a pressure sensitive adhesive backed paper stock (ESM-SGPA-100-54), This is a possibility, but the price seems to be about $50 a roll too high....
  13. Adhesive Backed Paper stock? For paper labels?

Hey Guys - I am in the market for a PAPER stock that's got a pressure sensitive adhesive on the back side -- SOLVENT Printable, and die-cuttable. We have a customer wanting to create custom sticker sheets with about 30 little stickers plotted in the center of a big 8.5"x11" and so we're looking...
  14. Just stops printing and states Not Connected in VersaWorks

YES! Because we're all a bunch of poor sign makers. On saturdays and sundays I stand on the freeway ramp asking for change :)
  15. It's time to buy a little plotter...

You've run a sign business for 2 years without a piece of equipment? Good for you!!!! If you've been in business for two years with little to no overhead, I'd be looking for new - surely you can afford it! A 24-30" SUMMA plotter with a stand is around $2400 I believe, and it'll give you a...
  16. Banding/Over-spray Problem....Help

have you tried a different vinyl? and a different profile?
  17. Banding/Over-spray Problem....Help

Does the Blue square have any yellow in the CMYK makeup? If so, I'd think they're banding because it's looking for yellow and it's either not there, or it's not spraying enough. Have you checked your feed calibration? (but wouldn't make sense if the 100% magenta isn't banded)
  18. Yellow starts dropping out after a foot of printing: VS-640

Geez...$1000 in materials an ink? That's like a month straight of printing for us. Why wouldn't you have just called a tech out at $100/hr to fix it and been done? We had the same issue with a brand new roland with our black where it was going spotty after about 15" and the tech came right out...
  19. Ink bleeding, shadowing...help!

Static...that doesn't seem like deflection....the overspray is super far from the print itself. The deflection would have to be spraying all the way into the second color in the test print. If it prints fine in one rip and not another go back to basics: 1. Is it ALL your prints or just the one...
