Agreed. billr801 - if your old PC is still running, just create a PrnInst file under File-Manage Printers. You should do this as a matter of course anyway, as well as creating OML files and storing them on a flash drive in case of disasters.
That doesn't sound right. Do you have your original Thrive 18 install dongle? What was the reason they gave you? I've used Onyx for over 20 years and as long as your operating system is supported, you should be able to install it, you just have to have the install software and hardware key. I've...
Thank you for the update. Keep in mind, the SP-300V is still a solid printer and has value if repaired or as a parts machine, especially the electronics.
No, it would only affect the head on that channel. But, in the interest of technical thoroughness, we check everything. And usually, the transistors short out, blowing the fuse. Leaning toward the carriage board, also. It's a problem affecting both heads, so the problem is likely to be at a...
It seems like one of your yellow dampers is either not full enough or is failing. I would suggest doing a single choke clean. It is in the service menu under the sub menu.
This is true for the SP-300. He has the SP-300i printer. Head carriage design is different, and the cables are routed differently. I verified the length in the service manual. 330 mm.
If the dampers for the black/cyan head are older dampers, you should replace them as well. The O-rings in the bottom of the dampers have a tendency to enlarge over time and result in an air leak when placed on a new head. If you don't know this, it will drive you crazy trying to find it. If you...
Red flags to watch for when buying printer parts:
1. Unbelievable great price.
2. Payment by wire transfer - only if you want to give away your money.
3. Vendors who sell all kinds of items besides printer parts.
4. Any vendor in the Far East/Pacific Rim - Indonesia, Maylasia, Hong Kong, etc...
To check the output transistors, power down and unplug the printer. Wait 15 minutes. Set a resistance meter to the most sensitive scale and touch the leads together to get your zero reference, as not all meters actually go to zero. Recheck F2 & F3. Then measure the outer 2 legs of each...
I don't understand why you won't tell us the vendor...
Here's a source for a reputable supplier and they are an active member here.

First thing you need to do is move the head to the maintenance area on the left side of the printer and examine the bottom of the head. Please take a very clear picture and post it. I would not do any cleaning until you do this. Depending upon what may be on the bottom of the head, like banner...
You have a bad head. End of story. You have proved it by swapping the old head in and printing nozzles and the new head back in again and getting nothing. If you keep trying to find a different answer by experimenting, you are going to make things worse. You have gotten excellent advice from a...
