  1. Input on choosing a new printer

Why should a manufacturer feel the need to continue making heads and ink for a printer that is old. I agree they should open it up to other places to make the parts if they want to but you cant expect a company to keep making parts for machine that old. Most people when the printer is that old...
  2. Input on choosing a new printer

In my opinion if your wanting roll to roll white Latex is the way to go. We have UV white and although it is a good white UV inks are thicker than latex. If you have not already I would get some white samples from the HP latex. It is a good solid white and very thin so would be good if you...

  4. good nozzles have dropped out.

  5. Inkcups X2 machine?

We run the X5T. Solid machine. Had it for about 2 years and have not had any issues.
  6. Polishing the edges of acrylic

The proper way we were told to do it is a torch with a mix of oxygen and hydrogen. We take the pieces off our router and can polish the edges of a 4x6 sign in about 5 minutes. Other gases will work but the edges might not be as clear. It was explained to us that hydrogen is a “cleaner” gas...
  7. Why would the file size be so big?

if it is a Photoshop file tell them to flatten the files and send you a .tiff. We do a lot of contract printing and rarely are fonts converted to curves/outlines and the files are huge. I simply open in Photoshop flatten and send it to the printer. Files print just fine.
  8. Flatbed printed rowmark

why not cut the shapes then print. Make a jig for the cut shapes to go into. We print on Rowmark and styrene all the time with no issues.
  9. Scratch and Kink Free Posters

  10. Scratch and Kink Free Posters

I love printing posters on our HP Latex. Does not scratch and prints great. with eco solvent you may need to laminate to resolve the scratching issue.
  11. Add another Colex or will one Zund do what the two Colex

I would say Zund. There is a reason they are more money. Talked to a lot of people that had experience with Esko and Zund and they said they would never do Esko again as the Zund is that much better. There is a plant near me that has 9 zund machines in total. That says something. I have had...

If all your doing is banners I would sub them out. You can buy them finished for $1/sqft and at that cost its not worth printing in house.

a CMYK only printer cant do a raised spot image. You have to have a clear/varnish for that and that is only on UV printers.

  19. 3' x 8' full-color full-bleed digitally printed 13oz banner price?

Yes in town he is by far cheaper but they have nation wide accounts and that is the going rate at a lot of places on banners. Yes he has higher payments on machines but when he can load up the three machines and run 6 rolls of 54" material at a time he can kick out banners fast. The hem welder...
