You need to get UL or ETL certified. That could be anywhere from $20k - $60k depending on what you want to do and then ongoing fees.
Also you need a letter bender, notcher, trimmer, etc. You'd be looking at the $150k range for that equipment.
There are 14 shops in my area. So having 4 in yours is good. But all your pain in the ass customers, send them over to their business. When they get screwed maybe they will learn and accept your price and work with you more. Any customer who is petty and will want the cheapest price, no artwork...
There is a shop in our area like that. His quality is so bad, he hurts himself. He only covers within about 20 miles of his shop. I cover the entire state and have more business than I can handle. The more you distance yourself from him, the quicker he will fail. Just educate your customers...

It does matter, they are completely different. How would you feel like someone told you to buy a machine for a couple thousand bucks and then it didn't do what you wanted?
