  1. Need Help Looks like black ink is pooling to edges of small dots.

Your initial picture looked almost like over spray caused by static. If you want to return to normal print speeds, look into your ambient humidity.
  2. Looking for printable, no coating paper

Teslin by PPG works pretty well. Has a slight learning curve that's comparable to printing on banner. As far as suppliers, where are you located? We get ours from Sun Supply, that serves the Pacific Northwest.
  3. Mounting glass panels

I would sub this out or talk with your local glazers.
  4. Rant Hiring Installers

Anyone else notice that there is a significant lack of new talent in the pool? Feels like there isn't any interest/exposure or gaining of people in the trade.
  5. Rant Vector drawing,,,Have we gone back 40 years?

Without a doubt they push subscription and when a new version comes out I'll sub for a month or 2 to see if it's worth upgrading my stand-alone version. My favorite version is still X6 but also have 22 as a stand alone for the iso tools. At the end of the day it really comes down to comfort with...
  6. Rant Vector drawing,,,Have we gone back 40 years?

Just some quick digging and Flexi is available for Mac now but is only subscription based. Draw still offers standalone purchases o.O
  7. Rant Vector drawing,,,Have we gone back 40 years?

Same boat here. Used PC/Corel for years due to serial ports and output devices at the sign shops I was at. The current company I am at is all Mac/Adobe, which works, but lacks the ability to scale efficiently and quickly as well as wonky perspective tools that make impositions a nightmare. They...
  8. Removal from Hell!

We use the previously mentioned wall paper steamers for most rigs. But for something like this we've rented a Hotsie (heated, high pressure washer).
  9. Multi color vinyl production

    Can you print white?
  10. 3m etched vinyl won't pick up with transfer tape

We use the 3M SCPS-55 (Red Label) and it works pretty well. Usually will only have issues if the mask hasn't been properly applied.
  11. Flexi Can't Cut Corners Properly

Start by turning off OverCut. Your settings in the RIP & Printing have OverCut on and set to .1"
  12. Laminating without time to gas off

We used a front side heater that would assist curing before the take up reel. Was 900$ at the time but would reduce cure time by about 10-15 hours. When it comes to post cure times it really depends on the media and how long it takes to recover from the solvent and heat. Calendared vinyl is more...
  13. Vehicle tailgate badges/stamps

"2. use a trim removal kit, pry a corner up" - We use the StrikerSet from Yellowtools not bad price for the kit we use on the regular.
  14. Laminating print vinyl if there's no print?

Only reason I would laminate non printed vinyl would be to prevent it from yellowing due to UV/Carbon on exterior applications.
  15. How Is This Decal Made And Installed?

It looks like maybe 3 total layers? Layer one is the OEM graphics that have had a panel installed over the top (layer ) and then another layer of decals to update the verbiage once again. FWIW, FAA graphics compliance is for pressurized cabins.
  16. ACM OUTSIDE

Out of curiosity, since I've never used ACM as channel letter backs (063 or 080), does ETL allow this?
  17. ACM OUTSIDE

Only issue I've ever had was due to our vendor not realizing they gave us interior grade. Other than that, it's been our go to especially for routed signs as we can rout it with the Colex's 3.5 HP spindle.
  18. PDF Not Importing to Flexi Correctly

If I had to guess...HUGMUNGOUS digital displays
  19. Dust under laminate tips?

We use SDI tack rollers with DRS-1 pads. After the pad runs out we move on to pre-mask since it's A LOT less expensive. With the 12" roller we can clean as the media is going into the laminator.
