I don't do wraps so I can't help ya there
  2. flat bed printers & coroplastic pricing help please!

for 1 piece that is cheaper than I can get them from 4over for. I say let them race to the bottom. If you want to have some fun, next time someone comes in, tell them you can't touch their price, but make them a fake quote for $12 each and tell them to take it to the other shop and ask them...
  3. permanent chip issue

The chips seem like a really silly solution, there must be a way to edit the firmware on the printer so it doesn't even check the chips no? I'm not saying have the end user do it, but the 3rd party ink suppliers should be able to do it. Or am I missing something?
  4. $1500 shaper origin handheld cnc router at the end of this month who's buying?

I'm I the same boat, I returned my nix sensor, I really could not see how it is useful in a normal sign shop environment. If I go to a clients and scan the colour of something they want matched, I go back to the shop and enter the values I to my design and print, now how do I know the...
  5. customer provided art with possible copyright issues

Exactly how much time should I spend policing my clients? If someone comes into my shop with a Pepsi logo I obvously know to ask for some sort of proof that they can use it, but how do i know if Bob's plumbing owns the right to their own logo or if the designer who made it still owns the...
  6. Roland TrueVis

I sent a file to my supplier which was printing with the magenta haze on my printer, he printed it on a different model (my old Vs-540 that he took on trade in actually) and there was no magenta at all. So he has sent it off to Roland, now i'm just waiting for an explanation. As for the ink...

we have the 64 inch version. The only reservation I had before I bought it was the takeup, I heard of quite a few issues with the Pro4 printer not being able to use the takeup for more than 30 feet without wandering and causing headstrikes. So far no issues to date and we've printed a few full...
  8. Customer Driving Me Nuts

when a new customer comes in complaining about another shop, it is ALWAYS a red flag for me, it means the other shop was smart enough to ditch this customer.
  9. Sign Business as SIDE HUSTLE...

I would find some good wholesale shops and partner with them to start, places like stouse, 4over, signs365 etc. Use your experience in design to your benefit and sub out the production. For example, I can order double sided coroplast yard signs from 4over, flat bed printed with free...
  10. Roland Printing RED never looks good!!!!!

It's under one of the menus at the top of versaworks, special colour settings It will only effect the colours you tell it to, and gradients won't work with it, to fix that you need a custom profile made. But the special colours settings work really well for fixing solid colours.
  11. Roland Printing RED never looks good!!!!!

Go to special colours settings Add a new special colour Set the input to 0 100 100 0 Set the output to 0 100 100 0 Save Now when you import a file with a red value of 0 100 100 0 versaworks will replace it with a true red. Basically the profile you use is limiting the amount of ink it...
  12. looking for finished goods rack ideas

A wine rack might work well for storing banners and other things you can roll up.
  13. VP540 Driving me nuts

how is your printer connected to your rip computer? if it is through your network, try a direct connection.
  14. removing digital printing

Buy new faces, there is nothing you can do if it is flatbed printed directly to the plastic that won't look horrible.
  15. Roland TrueVis

Yeah i've run into this before on our last roland, but it is not the case this time, it's happening even in bitmap images.
  16. Roland TrueVis

Sure, we have noticed that certain profiles lay down WAY too much ink in black areas, to the point where the ink looks embossed it's so thick, our tech is pretty sure versaworks isn't respecting the ink limits in certain profiles and laying down 100 100 100 100 in these areas. It doesn't happen...

Yes the dealer told me 1 hour outgas time, I believe it, the prints are dry to the touch as soon as they clear the heater. I've laminated the prints after an hour with no issues so far. Scratch resistance is absolutely amazing! I can take my fingernail and scratch the cr@p out of a print 5...
  18. looking for knife that can cut backing paper.

Get it from Amazon, it's called a gift wrap cutter and its way cheaper https://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B002DHC6FA/ref=mp_s_a_1_3?ie=UTF8&qid=1470309948&sr=8-3&pi=SY200_QL40&keywords=gift+paper+cutter&dpPl=1&dpID=41YhhqESxnL&ref=plSrch
  19. Temporary Window Signage

I can't remember off the top of my head but I seem to remember it was around $450 for a 54" x100' roll, but that's in Canadian dollars.
  20. Temporary Window Signage

Drytac makes a product called vizi print, it's similar to static cling but it's thicker and rigid, so it won't stretch at all during install. I stopped using static cling years ago, it prints horribly, has a super short shelf life, we either use a low tac clear vinyl, or the vizi print.
