So after reading the various posts between Gino and Bigdawg.....
Someone asks me to do a survey, I send them a quote based on the amount of time I think it will take to do based on their request. Quote also includes travel to AND from the site. If I get it, I get it if not, I'm on to...
Ladders!!!!
NO WAY!!!
Why do you feel the need to do this yourself? There are companies out there that do this.
Contact a electric sign guy in your area, to give you a quote moving it, add a few bucks and bang! All done!!
Have a relationship with others in the industry! I personally...
I like the plastic type of "toggle bolts" for something like this.
Deep scan stud finder
- Pre-drill holes in sign before going to site
- Mark holes
- Drill
- Insert anchors
- Attach sign
- Lay down a small bead of silicone across the top and sides to prevent watar seepage
I'd figure 2 hours per pump if you are familiar with this type of install. Then state on your quote that install time is an estimated amount of time and will be billed accordingly. This way you are covered if it takes you longer than the time you estimate. Once you have done 2 or 3 you should...
3M IJ480 with 8548 lamination. This will give you the air egress and conformability for the grout lines.
2 install options.....
Option A
Apply normally
Then heat grout lines in
Option B
Install like a textured wall graphic
Do a test with each option. My guess, as I have not done any...
Ooooooooo!
Reflection from mirrored vinyl is asking for trouble!
I would not print that on my printer! Not to mention UV inks are more "brittle" / hard when they are cured.
I say just because you CAN does not mean you SHOULD.
Best cleaner I've EVER found is called DC-99.
I clean up old trailers and aluminum signs where the paint is oxidized.
Works great!!
Do a google search to find a supplier.
Smells like 409
Come on down to my shop and help install a wrap on a semi trailer that I'm working on. I guarantee that you would know how to do rivets
4450 rivets
:awesome:
Printed or cut vinyl?
I would use a cast vinyl......period!
We use....
Printed - 3M IJ180cV3 with 8548
Cut - 3M/Avery/Oracal cast vinyl. For large coverage areas/stripes/etc. An air release vinyl like 3M180
1. We remove the windshield wipers from almost every vehicle we put perf on
2. Install using "crescent" squeegee strokes. You will find the natural curvature once you start. Do NOT stretch the vinyl lay down naturally
3. Once applied cut back 1/4" OR use apply Perf Line before installing...
Happened to me not too long ago too
They hacked a picture on my site and sent out 650K spam emails. Blacklisted? You bet. Took almost a month to clear up.
Contacted my hosting company. Long story short there.....
Fired them and found a new company that will keep all security up to date.
Cast vinyl and lamination are going to give you the longest term outdoor.
EXCEPT if you are printing. Then you get let's say 3-5 years.
Depending on the type of signs you are doing, you can go to a calandred vinyl/lam. I've found that Oracal 3651RA/210G to be fairly dimensionally stable and...
I'd use something like 3M 180mC or regular comply. Easy to lay down.
Either an over lap or a full 60" would be fine given that it the black. 30" will be easier to work with but then you have to align your cuts of course. If it was me, I'd use 60"
FYI.....if it was translucent a seam would...
