That was my mixup. I was thinking he was talking about the solvent Mimaki printers, forgetting the (2) printers he was comparing on here. I have an LED UV printer as well.
I am LOVING the Hexis VCR750 laminates!! They are designed for sticking to UV prints with a more aggressive adhesive. Give Liz at Platinum Sign Supply a call!
• Under the Channel Tab - Create New Spot Channel - Name it White. I have my opacity set to 50%. That ONLY determines how it displays on the screen.
• With that channel selected, create a selection of where you want the gradient to be.
• With the gradient tool, set to black/white for colors...
In Photoshop, you have to set it up as a spot channel. I have done this several times and it works good. On the Caldera usernet, they have a pdf guide on doing this. It would be way easier to follow than me trying to explain it. haha

When I do mine, setup in Illy, I have the white layer on top and make sure to set overprint fill, then I actually will do a negative path offset of a very small amount. Then if it is off slightly, it still doesn't show. ;)
Hexis has an awesome laminate that has worked great for me. It has a more aggressive adhesive that sticks to the UV inks better. (VCR750 better version, VCR650 cheaper version)It has worked great with my Fuji anyways.
I was told to take strips of vinyl, remove the backing and use the adhesive to clean off the lower roller. Turn the cutter off first and I do one spot at a time. Lower the roller with one upper and lower making contact and slowly pull the vinyl back and forth. I use scraps that were laminated as...
