Some people do make that much money as employees in this industry, I doubt a lot do, but I did for 3 years.
To get that you have to have the right owner in a large market and be dedicated to your job. If you call in sic more than once every couple of years, frequently use all your vacation...
If your looking for an imperfect outline why are you manually tracing the image. Corel has an auto trace built into the program. Use it and play with the detail, smoothing, and corner smoothing until you get the level of detail your looking for.
For fleet work I like to use soap and water and White Scotch Bright Pads or the generic ones from 44tools.com. I won't lie, most of the time I don't have water and just use 70 percent isopropyl alcohol.
Anyone who isn't familiar with 44tools.com should check out their site. They started with...
Through bolts will look good on one side but not the other. I'd get some PVC at your local hardware store (used for window trim) cut 4 pieces 3" or 4" shorter than the width of your sign. Then install 2 on top and 2 on the bottom pinching the fence pickets with deck screws. I would add some...
Most likely they are foam taped to the wall with some silicone for good measure. Chance are the wall is going to get damaged. To what degree will be determined by your experience and what was used to install it. Just make sure the client knows that they may need to mud and repaint the area...
Fishing line or a guitar string between to wooden dowels. Use a sawing action. The metal guitar strings will sometime discolor the wall and the fishing line is more likely to break. You can find a clay cutting tool at Dick Blick or Hobby Lobby.
Better get ready to buy your own printer in a very short amount of time. After constant barrage of one or two custom prints every day your wholesaler will start to slip on the quick turnaround. Especially if they get their own large jobs frequently. No one will care about your customers like you...
It was a long time ago but I remember that we got this so often that we had to replace the network card on the printer. Make sure you secure the network cable to the printer so it doesn't pull on the connection or it gets damaged.
Sticking to the roller isn't the problem. It's when it sticks to the out feed table where things get screwed up. We used rolls of cheap 30lb or 40lb Kraft paper from uline.com as sacrificial material on our laminator. The 60" wide rolls worked great for 54" media, but I don't see a good solution...
I can't help you on this one but we had similar problems with the print cut on Roland printers. We learned to beef up the outline so those cut registration problems weren't as visible. If the black outline was twice as thick it would be a lot less noticeable.
I like to use self tapping screws when I can, but I just finished 4 apartment complexes and the steel was too thick and hard for them. I also couldn't find stainless steel self tappers at the local box stores and I hate seeing rust stains running down the sign faces.
Stainless steel pan head screws. Predrill the holes in the sign and bars and screw it in. The bars should be hollow but if you drill too small of a hole the screws can bind and snap off the heads. You can also paint the heads to match if you want.
