  1. New to Cutting

My advice: Try not to bleed on anything you will attempt to sell.
  2. Print Problem

Is it always at the same spot along the printer? Or does the fading move around - i.e., if you flip the image, does it also do it? I'm thinking heater weirdness?
  3. Laptop questions...

I use two towers as my primary computers, and ghost my working data files and anticipated fonts/clipart to a large USB drive if I drag a laptop somewhere. Laptop's got Corel on it, but no Adobe stuff... I can't plug enough stuff into the laptop. FWIW, you can buy a GOOD tower and a low-end...
  4. Profile for Paper?

Did he say coated or uncoated paper? When I was printing on some coated photo paper, I had to back the ink limits down to the 20s...
  5. Please help: which cutter to cut 20 mil of various media?

What, specifically, are you trying to do? A complete die-cut of the whole mess? It'll be a LOT easier for folks to handle if you just cut the image, and leave the backing paper.
  6. BACA Logo?

Hey, thanks - didn't know it was a "brand of the world."
  7. BACA Logo?

Anyone know where I can score an image for Bikers Against Child Abuse? Told a friend who is active in that group that I might be able to whip up a couple of things for him.
  8. 1440 profile for mutoh

Make it it own fume hood room. Small room, with a nice door, and an exhaust fan blowing outside. With the door closed, the exhaust fan will have air leaking around the outside (you can test with a cig or incense or a special high dollar "test stick" if you work for a large corporation...).
  9. 1440 profile for mutoh

IMHO, more pixels printed per pixel of detail can help things somewhat... Personally, with the Epson, I generally print at 1440 instead of 2880, because it seems like it sharpens a little...
  10. 1440 profile for mutoh

Hey, if you keep having problems - What substrate do you need it on? I can do photo paper with my 44" Epson, and it'll be nice and sharp.
  11. 2 sided banner on Falcon II Outdoor

well, i'm just figuring that is more likely to behave "identically" on startup. And rebooting everything isn't very hard.
  12. 2 sided banner on Falcon II Outdoor

Consistency is your friend here. Do everything the same. And the easiest way to do that is... Turn EVERYTHING off. Everything. Start it up. Load the material. Print the first side. Take the material out. Repeat.
  13. Security labels for portable Radios

Yeah, but it'll come off. Sounds like they don't want people taking the gizmos home with them, and then hocking them... I'd put something nice and thin down, and then dome it with a clear epoxy, out 1/4-3/8" from the label.
  14. software for encad vinyljet 36

He probably got sold a version of "cut only" flexi... Don't fault him. Too much... So, what RIPs from a few years back will work with it?
  15. Contour Registration Question

Hey, hoss, if you need an extra set of hands, let me know...
  16. Are there any small solvent machines?

Actually, thinking of a small and somewhat mobile print-on-demand system.
  17. Large format printer/software

Which museum is it, anyway? I'll be in Lexington next week, maybe I could stop by, and you could pick my brain a little.
  18. Large format printer/software

BTW, Dale, did those labels get there? (I'll give you a yell sometime early next week - have some ideas, and some marketing ideas...)
  19. Large format printer/software

One thing to consider is that you're gonna drop $10K plus on the printer. Possibly up to $15K or so, with software, and that's not counting training for the person who'll be using it. Just how much signage do you do? And is it interior or exterior? What percentage either way? Keep in mind...
  20. Are there any small solvent machines?

Was figuring smaller would be better - it'll need to fit into a relatively small mobile space. Actually 12-13" would be wide enough, about the size of an Epson 1280, but I suspect that the ink would kill one of those in fairly short order.
