  1. Flexi investment...

If all you are doing is cutting, Corel and the Graphtec plug-in (on the CD in the box - so is the manual...) may work for you. Try it before you buy anything else. Do you have either Corel or Illustrator? Are you used to using them? If not, and if you don't have any experience with them -...

  3. Mounting vinyl with laminator?

The easy fast way is to lam the vinyl with your squeege, then squeege it onto the substrate. 3-4 minutes setup at the max. If you just want vinyl on the substrate, wait a few hours or maybe you need to drop your ink and raise your temps a little.
  4. Location Help

Walk in customers will eat a LOT of time, and they generally want labor intensive small stuff. I'd suggest some sort of industrial place, with a garage door available so you can drive a vehicle indoors to work on it.

  6. Lets take a VOTE

I still own my Kaypro CP/M machine... Two desktop tower PCs and one laptop for the business. Have considered a mac, but unless you're dealing with magazine folks who haven't figured out that InDesign rocks over Quark, most of the business world is PC based. It's just such a hassle dealing with...

  9. First in, first out? Not!

Queued up a coupla jobs. Did the large/complex one first. Then a set of magnets. Just checked, and the magnets printed first (I guess they processed/ripped first), and the other thing is about halfway done... Wild.

  12. Flexi is eating up memory till it PUKES!!!!!!

The other night, I figured I'd crunch a big file, just for grins... 3x8 banner at 720dpi from a 1.3 gig tiff... This is an older confuser too... Took a few minutes to load, then I hit rip/print and send, and it probably took 15 minutes or so "processing" and just a little while "ripping."
  13. New to Printing

  19. Falcon Jr Don't Print Reg. Marks (Flexi)

If you don't have a contour cut defined, it won't print the marks. Doesn't matter if you're starting with a vector or not. I think it's something effects/contour cut... Not enough to define it - you have to hit the *&^*()&^)(*& checkbox thingie too.
  20. Monitor Calibration

John, the things need to be able to cope with CMYK profiles, etc... A lot of the lower end ones can't do that.
