Depends how critical the color match is. So not every time, and with the HP Professional Pantone Emulation most colors are on or close enough with the Latex. But once in a while and with high gamut colors I usually do if they are not close. And some colors aren't hittable, more so with certain...
That made me remember when I tested Onyx. There was always some stuff like that that didn't seem to work right. Caldera seemed to be ok but because they didn't fully support the Canon iPF 8400 I passed on it. I found Cologate on the other hand is wonderful for finding and using CMYK output...
If the spot color libraries that come with your RIP are not good enough or your are matching a custom color do this.
The only spot color to CMYK conversion should be the output values the RIP sends to the printer. That is why most RIPs have the ability to print a color chart with verying mixes...
I an effort to move on to IL Version 23 and OS 10.14 I have been testing CM4 with it. Everything seems to work fine with the Q160 expect when reading targets for cutting. Hitting the print button in CM4 the plotter goes all the way to the lower right of the vinyl. If I have disable going to the...
So what is the official name of that module as I use Colorgate, and when was it released? Link please. It has linearization and profiling but I have not seen anywhere that it can circumvents the restrictive contone ink limits built into the media preset.
Colorgate can use the onboard spectro...
You need to have a spectrophotometer one way or another. If you have handheld one and a RIP with the ability to create profiles then it is probably not as important to have it on the printer. I have the 360 but I think the 315 does have calibration ability. But I do like the convience of being...
Same here on the cast vinyl. Rarely every do anything that big that isn't long term. If they want short term that size they can just fasten up a banner.
With automatic substrate loading, after it first loads I lift up the pinch rollers and rewind some back on the feed roll. That seems to straighten the substrate out going through the printer. I then lower the pinch rollers and proceeded to finish entering loading the substrate.
I wonder if NEXUS_01_16_00.7 firmware has been pulled for some reason as it is no longer listed on the HP support page.

Oh don't get me started on 38" Banner. That is another hugh sore spot. Clients order 36 x 72 to 120 all the time, and expect a 1.5" hem. So how in the hell are you going to get the 3 inches needed with only 38". Do the waste on 54"? Another one I have been complaining about to MFGs for years...
I hear you. I have been complaining about this for years. 60" Substrate, but the vinyls MFGs can't get it through there heads we need at least 61" vinyl. Why do they make 54" vinyl then when they know that Substrate come in 48". What are they thinking? There is General Formulations 275 that...
The the late paying clients are are on my push back list. Otherwise I try to do everything in order except for a rush job once in a while, and guess who goes to the end of the list.
Orajet 3641, Release Liner 83# silicone coated paper. That will cause you problems. You need a 90# for good results with latex. You can try more passes with less heat. Maybe 12pass - 220 °F.
Why not just install your curing platen covers. I have to use them with most double sided banners but I don't have a problem with Forward Banner. I am sure your printing on the smooth side??
It is sticking on the curing platen? If you can get to it wipe it down with alcohol.
I hope not but I guess we will find out. I had a couple bad rolls, one right after the other (different serial # though) of 201OAE a while back then went to BL2201G and have not had the same problems. I am pretty sure they are not the same. The gray adhesive is different. And GF201 is not the...
