  1. Does anyone else hate online reviews?

So far I've only had regular people leave less than a 5 star, no businesses yet. Shame on a business to leave less than 5 stars unless there was a super big mistake and you were a real jerk about it. I just had a customer come in and bribe me with a Dairy Queen gift card that I can get 3 banner...
  2. Material Shortage?

I hate to be a meanie but if we are in May 2022 and the customer starts getting pissy with me about material shortages, I start to get snotty because I don't have time to explain the last 2 years to them. Seriously? You don't see your favorite stuff missing at the grocery store? You don't have...
  3. Vinyl, stencil or freehand these signs?

What about a liquid laminate over the top of the vinyl?
  4. Educating clients in what is and isn't high quality artwork.

I have one customer with a brother who is a graphic designer. He's opened 3 businesses in the last couple years. I love his brother. He is the only GA I've worked with that actually gives me perfect vector art, everything is in cmyk. I just designed his newest sign...in under a minute. Opened...
  5. banners

I just ordered a 12'x53' banner from Signs365 but it was 18oz, maybe try that
  6. Layered vinyl on desk with no tape

IMO the only reason you would want to remove the masking is to take a photo for selling purposes or for FB post or something - which I've done to take photos to show off the decal on my FB post. I've done some decals with multiple color's and I just used a low tack masking and carefully removed...
  7. Car Rental Logo

That's a really great idea to not do logos if you don't need to. Especially for a one person shop, that computer time really takes away from the labor time. I think I might check that out especially for some of the small businesses. I do the same thing you do with the customer supplied logos...
  8. Happy Mothers Day!

Happy Mothers Day Geneva! My oldest is in Ohio, sad our boys can’t be with us but proud of them!!! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  9. Happy Mothers Day!

How foolish of me not to think of that!!! Convoy it is! And shirt...yup! I can handle that too! Thanks for setting me straight, he will be very grateful! :roflmao:
  10. Happy Mothers Day!

Happy Mothers Day ladies!!! It's been a long week and I'm really looking forward to Sunday! What's everyone's plans??? We will have brunch at my mom and dads then - it's the one day a year I get to drag my youngest around to buy plants so that's what we will do!!! I'm sure he's SUPER excited to...
  11. Need Advice on software

I've called Signwarehouse in the past when I first started up years ago. I would suggest calling them and they can help you decide based on the cutter and what you plan to do with it.
  12. Need Advice on software

Since you are not printing you don't need the rip and print. If you do decide to get into printing decals down the road you can get your files set-up and then send them out to a place like FireSprint or Signs365 with a wholesale account. I think Apprentice would be sufficient. The contour cut is...
  13. Car Rental Logo

    Very nice!
  14. Making car magnets...need help

Glad I read this. I was thinking of buying some magnet material then trying to print on it. I think I'll stick with my usual print on vinyl-then apply to magnet and trim way. I have not tried to cut magnet material on my cutter yet. Do you use a different blade Joseph44708 ? I have a HP/Summa
  15. Need Advice on software

You should check for driver updates first for the Summa to make sure you can make it work on the Windows 10. Not sure about free software but Signwarehouse has LXI that is pretty cheap and does a great job.
  16. Plywood Yard Art

I agree. You can be opening the box of your brand new signwarehouse plotter with the excitement of making your first sign, come on here, state your intentions of your new business and you will receive a TON of help and many welcomes from around the world - because your intensions are to make...
  17. The FONT Project

I never have that hard of a time finding a font - or one that's close. The biggest issue is finding the fonts that are mixed with 2 fonts or fonts that have edges cut off or poor copy or scrolly do-dads added. Those are customized specifically for the customers logo so the logo is different...
  18. WRAP BACKGROUND

It looks like a race car graphic, I like it. Sounds like Geneva found it!
  19. Opinion I think a light bulb just went off today................................................

I don't mind the font posts, sometimes I just scroll past if I'm in hurry. I rarely ask for font help but sometimes when they are a combination font or a customized font it's something only the guys who have been around a while know. I'm super guilty of mixing fonts especially cursive fonts...
  20. Opinion I think a light bulb just went off today................................................

The one problem I see with the hobby posts is it takes away from the posts that have $$$ riding on them. Plenty of people are posting real-time problems that are costing them money. If it gets goobered up with too many hobby posts then it takes away from the real sign questions. I'm OK with...
