  1. Extremely Fast Wide Format

looks like they are officially "here".... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=r5tDUceDkko&feature=related these will end up in big print shops first and the price per square foot will plummet for color prints.
  2. And the Mutoh problems march on...Help anyone?

conor knoxx probably solved a big dilemma. i wasn't aware that the ink supply was split. sorry. you could also put a splitter on your syringe and pull two dampers at once. but it is a concern that with them all seated, the ink fill will not pull. one of the best ways to determine an air...
  3. Extremely Fast Wide Format

nah... i don't think he's on signs101 right now. surely he's got better things to do with this life. it's real. current OEMs are slow to adopt any of this tech because it would make their entire product line obsolete. i'm sure there are enough billions of dollars out there to do this. in...
  4. And the Mutoh problems march on...Help anyone?

i'd start with pulling at a single damper. if you see ink come up the line and fill the damper, and the ink stays put. ...then you don't have leaking dampers. it's odd that all of them aren't pulling during an ink fill up. is it possible that you didn't put the o-rings in? sometimes one...
  5. And the Mutoh problems march on...Help anyone?

when you change a damper, the thing to do is to pull the ink back with a syringe. having the printer do it lacks "feedback" to the "tech" for each channel as far as leaks, pull strength needed, etc. if it's all the dampers and none of them have pulled at all with the pump pulling,.... it's...
  6. JV3 reusing ink question

the only risk you run is the exposed ink may dehydrate a bit and become a higher viscosity. i did this with my white channel used a syringe hanging from the pump drain tube with a tiny hole at the top. over the hole then squirt it back into the refillable cart. the damper has a filter, the...
  7. Flatbed questions

have you ever asked yourself why military equipment is so un-attractive? if i went to a demo and the machine was in a spot lit stage with some hot receptionist and new age music in the background i'd be very suspicious. not about the machine in particular but the ethic behind the people that...
  8. Mimaki's new UV-LED JFX500-2131

they should sell it at a heavy discount to apologize for the lemons that they've been revolutionizing the flatbed industry with.
  9. Need some help Prints looking very fuzzy

have you isolated it to a channel? sorry i breezed through the prior responses. you can isolated if its the head or the ink by doing a damper swap to a different channel if you have an offending color (damper swap is moving the entire joined damper and line to a different manifold nipple to...
  10. Need some help Prints looking very fuzzy

first off on vp an sp models before you even get to a "fix" you need to discharge the capacitors. turn off on the front, switch off the back, unplug, press the front button four times slowly. this model line has electrostatic issues and can not be properly diagnosed without doing this first...
  11. Epson SureColor S30670 vs. HP Latex L26500

if it weren't for the stupid pinch rollers being set so low on the gantry, 1/4" would be a piece of cake. but for now, if you have a jv3 (possibly other OEM's) you can at least run 1/8" with just an hour's modification. i have a folder with the pics of the modification somewhere. i'm building...
  12. My Falcon loves to drain my ink carts!

my thing to do is if the printer is going to set for a while, pull the carriage to the left for a moment. it will release the ink and let it drain.
  13. Epson SureColor S30670 vs. HP Latex L26500

if you can get away with the hp latex, get that. it is a much friendlier printer and i believe it will make you more money. cheap heads, prints look better, cheaper, just a better printer tech. the 10mil bayer carb is the most common of them all. i figure you could call tekra...
  14. Epson SureColor S30670 vs. HP Latex L26500

i've put the bayer (grained) 10mil in the jv3 before. get the heat just right and it prints and incredible resolution. it's clear of course, so over printing (2x) is usually recommended unless mounting it to an opaque backer. no coating would ever be required for polycarb. it's a very solvent...
  15. Epson SureColor S30670 vs. HP Latex L26500

10mil poly is thin thin thin. a mimaki can print on up to 80mil and more. my jv3 can do 125mil after just sanding the tops of of to little screws letting the height adjustment go a tad bit higher.
  16. My Falcon loves to drain my ink carts!

a build up of ink sitting in an open line can and will pull down on the head and eventually start a spontaneous siphoning effect. your lines may not be clogged. they may be perfect. but if there is undried latent ink in them, they can slowly fall down the line and create a vacuum.
  17. DX2 Print Heads

i have two brand new DX2 color heads that i never used for a refurb. decided to sell the project off to fund some other stuff.
  18. selling 2 brand new DX2's (question)

i have 2 brand new epson DX2 heads that i bought to refurb my old roland fj50. but i now have way too many printer projects going. so i'm parting out the fj. Q: are all DX2 heads eco-solvent compatible? i'm not sure how to advertise them. thanks!
  19. Protect-All Foil Superbright PET

depends on just "how" it's delaminating. without a pic there's no way to diagnose. just too many possible causes. post a pic!
