  1. Quality of aluminum composite material

I am noticing a 30% difference in cost between Grimco, Farco and Tubelite on aluminum composite 1/4" (6MM). So far I haven't noticed much difference in quality between the 3 different brands. I need to buy a sheet of 1/4" black and I don't mind paying more if the quality is better. Has anyone...
  2. Gold Leaf on PVC letters

Doesn't Gemini offer a gilded option on their letters? I've seen it in the past but not sure if they still do it. Yes, it was expensive, but if you are inexperienced, that might be the route to take.
  3. step and repeat banners with stand

I am looking for a wholesaler for an 8'x8' step and repeat banner. Would like to purchase the printed banner with the stand. There are several cheap ones online which I am thinking are not good. I would like something that is easy to set up and take down. Thanks.
  4. Brushed aluminum laminate

We use either Chemetal or Formica brands to laminate to PVC.
  5. Question Aluminum Stand Offs

Did you try MBS standoffs.com ?
  6. Wood Blanks & Paint Options (one shot getting too expensive)

We used to sandblast wood signs many years ago. For best results you'll want a kiln dried vertical grain wood. There are companies that still sell this type of wood sign blanks that you can buy and blast yourself but they are not cheap. We now use PVC with a wood grain texture instead of...
  7. national permit runners for sign industry

I recently obtained a permit in Jacksonville through a painful process. The property is located in an "Overlay" district. In order to get a ground sign, 4'x4' on two posts I had to go through these departments for approval: 1. zoning, 2. traffic, 3. landscape, 4. overlay, 5. historic, 6 (last...
  8. readerboards

Looking for wholesale manufacturers of outdoor enclosed readerboards with locking cabinets, track, letters, whole 9 yards. 4-5 " changeable letters - not electronic.
  9. HDPE sign installation

We are working on a bid for an apartment complex that will require several signs made out of HDPE, commonly known as color core. We have very limited experience with this material. The material does not accept glue so we were wondering about installing the small signs, if VHB tape will work? The...
  10. 3M 1170 translucent by the yard?

I believe it is 3M Series 1170 for applying onto reflective backgrounds. This is what I need by the yard.
  11. 3M 1170 translucent by the yard?

I have to make 5 street signs and need about 4 yards of the 3M translucent blue to cut the letters out and apply to the reflective white street blade. Grimco only sells 50 yds. I didn't see it at Fellers. Any suggestions where I can buy it by the yard? Thanks.
  12. Liability insurance, Workers Compensation, guidance needed!

Not sure about New York but in Florida if you are structured as a corporation, officers can elect to be exempt from Work Comp coverage. Employees must be covered. We lease our employees and they get WC through the leasing company.
  13. Vinyl coming off wall

If you are going to repaint, why not just get the same color of the wall mixed up in an exterior grade paint, semi gloss? We stick vinyl on exterior signs all the time without issue.
  14. Getting deposits from contractors

Regarding the NTO (Notice to Owner) on some of the contracts I am seeing the owner may be a government entity or a large corporation. Knowing how to reach the "owner" is my question. What little experience I've had in these situations the GC doesn't give out owner's information. How would I find...
  15. Getting deposits from contractors

I'm getting jobs from building contractors to supply and install ADA interior signs in new buildings. So far these are $5 to $10k jobs with not a lot out of pocket costs. The contractors pay on a monthly basis after a request for payment is submitted through their website software. The software...
  16. Palight

We haven't used it lately but when it first came out we tried routing it and did not like it for routed work. The edges had a lot of "fuzz" on them. We prefer Excel PVC for routing as it seems denser. The edges are cleaner on cut out letters.
  17. EstiMate and Windows 10

Will EstiMate software run correctly on Windows 10? I have been using this software for several years. I tried going on their website to find answers but their "support" link does not seem to be working.
