Unless it is Windows your trying to get away from I would take a close look at Colorgate also. When I demoed Caldera I found the replace color function really lacking compared to Onyx or Colorgate. But then I may not have really figured it out so sure would like to here from Caldera users as to...
I have run the Demo on Linux. Seems to run well on basic systems. They were offering it on Mac Minis so I would guess it must not be much of a resource hog.
Download the Demo and get a 15 day Key and try it. In fact most other RIPs offer a demo as well.
What power failure, the computers power supply? If it was line power and you are not use a UPS that is plain ignorant.
You can try to see if you can open it in Acrobat or Preview and resave but most likely it is hosed. If you are using a UPS I guess you will just have to learn the hard way.
I am beginning to think the problem is related to lower pressure and not enough dwell time, but until people report what pressures and dwell time they are using we may never know for sure. All I know is some of us don't see it which seems to come down to the method of application of the over-lam...
Interesting comment about the laminator "is the hardest equipment to master". I never really though it was that hard to master. May have more to do with the quality of the laminator.
I can't really tell from your one picture, but two things come to mind. Webbing should be done so at least half...
Sheets, really NO but I guess you could use 4' to 8' sheets if your willing to waste 2' of it for the curing at the end. And if it is not fastened to a feed roll it will give an error message, one that you can OK and ignore.
What do mean dimension wise, shorter rolls?
A lot of things can cause static, but the most helpful way to reduce it is to keep at least 40% humidity in the environment where your electronic equipment is located.
Low humidity equals high static. That is a good way to kill equipment, and sometimes you just have to learn the hard way. If you're lucky it is just a fuse on a board if not you probably zapped a control board.
Sorry I should have mentioned I needed the frost version.
I was just hoping that a seller might have it in stock since the distributor won't have any until the last of April. Went with BigFishes idot because it has to be printed next week.
There is a least one other thread going on about this. Mar 7, 2018 This was my finding.
Seems like Avery vinyl and Over-Laminates are a problem. And pressure is a possibility. We use a big Seal which uses air pressure which is set fairly high for over-laminating roll to roll.
There is...
Did the preset category test with a Cyan and a Magenta ramp, with all color management turned off on the RIP. No apparent difference in the light ink curve split.
What did show a difference was ink density. Knowing what I do to minimize apparent graininess I would think 18 pass at maybe 150...
You should clarify this. It gives the wrong impression to say lots. There is a sweet spot. Too much and you get no dot gain, showing the almost exact 12-picoliter dot, which would look grainy. Too little and you will get coalescing which will not look as smooth as possible either.
