  1. Are sign professionals just giving up?

Since 90% of my work is for other sign companies, I get a chance to see how a variety of companies interact with their own clients. Are clients just getting so difficult that sign pros have just given up trying to educate them on what's good and bad design and what constitutes and effective...
  2. Clients are idiots

That has traditionally been the thought process in the industry, but with the low cost of full color printing, it's really not a factor anymore. Of course, the customer may need to be educated.
  3. Graphtec CE2000-60 Inaccurate Cutting

I haven't had this issue before, this is the first time trying the paint mask. I think you're right. I noticed that at the end of the cut, the vinyl seems to be lifting, or bunching a bit by the right pinch roller, like the pinch rollers aren't tight enough to keep it taught. There isn't a...
  4. Graphtec CE2000-60 Inaccurate Cutting

Could it be a pinch roller issue?
  5. Graphtec CE2000-60 Inaccurate Cutting

Hi Joe. I haven't changed the blade or strip. The strip may need to be replaced. I don't cut much at all, (a couple times a month) so I'm pretty certain the blade is good. It's about 3 years old. Everything feels solid on the carriage. When I bought the unit, I had a similar issue and it was a...
  6. Graphtec CE2000-60 Inaccurate Cutting

Thanks for the advice. I just tried to slow it down from 25 cm per second to 15. Exactly the same results. :(
  7. Graphtec CE2000-60 Inaccurate Cutting

I went to cut some paint mask on my Graphtec today and had this happen. You can see the variation in the line weight on my border, and also the point at the bottom of the curve where the cut didn't meet up correctly. I thought at first maybe it was dirty pinch rollers, so I cleaned them well...
  8. Someone using your company name

American Made Signs is a pretty generic name, I would guess there are more than 2 companies with that name out there. Can you imagine if Extreme Graphics (or Xtreme Graphics, or Xtreme Grafix, or Extreme Grafics) went after every company with the same name? What a waste of time and energy...

  16. Need Help By the hour or guesstimate with a quote

Give them an estimate on time, for example, if you think it will take 8 hours (maybe a bit high) and your rate is $75 per hour, give the estimate at $600, but put on there clearly that it's for 8 hours of work and anything beyond that will be billed by the hour at your normal shop rate. That way...
  17. Just sold a sign....Now how do I make it?

Hahaha...I'll keep that in mind :)
  18. Just sold a sign....Now how do I make it?

Thanks! I am going to use 2 panels of 1" HDU with aluminum flat stock in between based on a suggestion from another sign maker. I plan photos of my process once I'm done with it.
  19. Just sold a sign....Now how do I make it?

I didn't ask for everything, just suggestions on how to fabricate a double sided HDU hanging sign. It was really that simple. This is after all "a place to learn", I thought it was ok to ask. And prickly isn't a name, it's an adjective. Adjectives are easier to change. :)
