  1. Chevron Production

A few hundred? Good contract. You'll need to confirm what the vehicle "code" will be - if they are fire engines, they will need the 3M DG3 or equivalent. You can't print that stuff without specific printers, so typically you'll overlay a translucent red on the white or lime green. Support...
  2. Summa contour cut

You don't have your settings on the Summa right. Is this the first time you've done this or is this a new problem? Typically you would calibrate the plotter to each material - printing a square of black, taking the measurements, etc. Then you calibrate the OPOS settings, printing an OPOS block...
  3. Ink bleeding on valuejet 1204

If your nozzle checks are jagged, they shouldn't be. The printer will print "panels" that don't align, but the lines within those panels should be straight, or as close to it as possible. You could have a couple deflecting nozzles. Temps might have some to do with it, but if this is a new thing...
  4. Inconsistent Color From Run To Run

Well.. seems it was either user error or computer error. I use Flexi as my RIP, and I was positive that all the settings were as they were during the initial print. I rarely change those settings other than to make the change for banners, vinyl or whatever. Anyway, I was "sure" that the "color...
  5. Question Mutoh Vj 1204 - Printhead Lever Adjustment

But something has to hold it fast. I can see ribbing on the inside of the 'track' - I take it there is a detent on the arm that rides that ribbing? In other words, can you feel the arm 'bumping' across the ribs? If not, then the arm is worn. Maybe setting a small set screw in the end will hold...
  6. Id A Font - 'fire Truck Bold'???

Hand done. There are fonts that are sort of similar, but not really. If you're trying to recreate for another vehicle, I've often scanned and vectorized what was on the truck and cleaned up the letters so they are somewhat consistent.
  7. Inconsistent Color From Run To Run

Ok, I had several police vehicles to do a couple weeks ago - all printed on 3M 680CR. The colors matched almost exactly to what they wanted, and all was well. Since then, one already got smacked and needs the quarter panel replaced. No problem, pulled the file and ran the exact same file with...
  8. Question Mutoh Vj 1204 - Printhead Lever Adjustment

How are you adjusting the lever? I've not had the cover off my printhead to look at that particular part; it looks like it's just held fast with that set screw. Is that screw working loose?
  9. Simples, Help Please

Thanks! I think I found that about the same time you posted :-)
  10. Simples, Help Please

So simple that I can't find it. Looks familiar - Comic Opera is close, but the centers are wrong.. As always, thanks in advance to the folks who play regularly! Rick
  11. Just In Wanted To Give A 'shout Out'........................

More than welcome Gino. Good to see it hooked up with the torque bar... I'll bet that saved some bruised hips when you hit those rocks!
  12. Small Engine Turn Gold vinyl.... why so hard to find?

Both FDC and Avery have an engine turn gold, but they are both polyester. I've used both Sign Gold and Real Gold successfully. So you will have to determine what level of quality you want and where you want to spend it. I think I've only had one fire department that wanted specifically the...
  13. Advertising on your signs

Sorry, just logged back in Gino. Well, if your townships are following the IBC, every single sign has to be labeled, whether it's a small marketing sign or an illuminated pylon. Whether they will enforce it is another matter - I've run into two townships that have so far.
  14. Advertising on your signs

There was an ordinance adopted in our township (and Gino's too, probably) here in PA that refers to the Uniform Construction Code that requires all signage to have an "identification plate" for all signage produced. It's total bulls**t of course, but local code enforcement is starting to enforce...
  15. Ford truck fenders, part 2

Hi all, I posted this same topic a few years ago and fortunately hadn't had to deal with it since then. I just got a bid package in that, of course, includes some dozen trucks, mostly F250's, that will require a double or triple wide stripe of reflective down the entire length of the truck...
  16. 1204 head strike

Ah, interesting. Never thought about the heat settings. I usually run 3M, so not so concerned on thin backings. Would you change the overall settings, or one platen in particular?
  17. 1204 head strike

Weird thing starting to happen - I'm getting head strikes at the end of the print "throw". In other words, the carriage goes out, stops and comes back for the next pass. At the end of each of the stops it'll head strike. I can't figure it out. Everything is clean on the head, no clogs, dragging...
  18. head align or some other adjust?

Looks like it might be a RIP error, but definitely check your PF first. Every now and again I get that, and it's always a feed issue.
  19. Strangest Chat from our website

Well... made you smile at least and didn't eat up too much of your time!
  20. How long can it go?

Sitting here running a print job this weekend and my 1204 just popped up an error code of 'Lifetime printhead'. At the moment I'm in no shape to purchase a new printhead... how long will the machine still run with that error code? Or once I turn it off, it's off until a new head gets put in? Rick
