Wow... haven't gotten those yet.. pre Windows 10..
  2. Fred- Clicking on thread links opening web pages in background...

Nope, same thing here, very randomly. The pages linked were not to ad pages, but to other sites like this http://www.countnews.com/early-impressions-of-civilization-vi-are-a-mixed-bag/?utm_source=pa&utm_medium=editorial&utm_campaign=featured-article and...
  3. Summa S2T 140 consistently poor print/cut

So it's happening on the feed side. Did you check that the registration marks are all equidistant across the print (lengthwise)? The cutter will only cut in accordance to the reg marks - if they wander 1/16" due to "print stretch", the cutter will do the same. In the grand scheme of things...
  4. Clear coating over gold leaf

I agree with visual. I use a 2 part clear automotive when I need to for truck lettering. I'm questioning why you think you need it on V-carved letters, though, unless they are going on boat quarterboards.
  5. Presidential debate...let's hear your thoughts

^ This. If that entire fiasco wasn't enough to convince people to vote third party, I don't know what is. I try really hard to stay out of political commentary, but yeah... Wayne's right if either get into office.
  6. Real Gold brand and edge sealing

I concur with Gino - do what you feel is right. Personally, I have never edge sealed anything but the silver, either using a laminate or a pen (and it is messy, let's face it..) and to date nothing has ever failed because the edges weren't sealed.
  7. International Building Code and local sign codes...

Good point. Don't quite know how or where to start with that. Right now I'm going through a second party and using their engineer.
  8. International Building Code and local sign codes...

That's just the thing - all permanent signage must have an engineer stamp, windloads, etc, etc... You're right about the temporary sign section, however. In any case, a full set of stamped engineer plans will run my customer (and me, since I'll simply pass the cost) between $500 and $1200...
  9. What's a good overlaminate or windshield tear for protecting acrylic from scratching?

Put a layer of 1/8" acrylic over it, secured by small pieces of VHB in the corners. You'll have to modify your frame a little to accept the thicker piece, but it saves on getting (possible) bubbles in any laminate.
  10. Should i get this used panel saw?

Even at that price if it's in good shape it's a steal. I've had mine for 18 years or so and it's still going strong. Just recently I'd considered purchasing the extensions for the sides but for 90% of the stuff I cut it's perfect. And portable, too, if you need that.
  11. International Building Code and local sign codes...

Fred, if this isn't in the right area, feel free to move. Ok, I need some insight, opinions, whatever. My local township here has adopted the International Building Code into their ordinance, which apparently also affects how signs are to be permitted as there is a sub section in the IBC...
  12. Paint damage from digital printing

The key here is Dibond and trailer panels aren't powder coated. They are simply painted and baked at the factory. You can take some heavy stripper and take the coating right off new .063 sheet.. on my old faded enclosed trailer (black panel) I was able to take the paint off with Rapid Remover...
  13. Need a supplier referral - cast aluminum bases

Would you keep going to a restaurant that only had two choices of meat, Tammie?
  14. Need a supplier referral - cast aluminum bases

Nope, it's the same Metalcraft I've used in the past, their selection/style of square covers is pretty limited, so I'm trying to search other options.. and not coming up with much! Thanks, guys!
  15. Mutoh VJ 1204

Clogged lines, clogged dampers, air leaks... list goes on and on. Start with the basics. With the head capped, can you pull ink through the drain lines with a syringe? Is the capping station in good order? Take the cover off the head and look at the dampers- - are they full of ink or cleaning...
  16. Need a supplier referral - cast aluminum bases

Thanks visual... but please read the text. All those you posted are for round poles, not square.
  17. Need a supplier referral - cast aluminum bases

And finials for aluminum posts. Sounds easy.. I just got in a large order from Ornamental Post and Panel for bases to fit 4", 5" and 6" square tube poles that I have for upcoming jobs. Case finials to match... I am not impressed. Their bases are simply cast bottoms and tops welded to a larger...
  18. Etched vinyl but how

Yep, I've done full color prints as window diffusers between rooms, blockouts, you name it. Looks great when backlit.. etch is a pretty versatile material.
  19. Black pvc sheet 1" cut letters in sunlight - paint or no paint?

Depending on the size, they will buckle eventually. The edges will grey before the surface. I've had similar situations; I've always put a topcoat of black paint on black pvc. Seems counterproductive, but on the edges makes all the difference.
  20. Yet another fire vehicle..

Hessian! That's the one!! Thank you!
