  1. Why the color variations?

I have never really had a problem with matching blues, greens tend to be the one that are most annoying for me
  2. Best Windows PC 2023

And as far as future proofing, I tend to upgrade my system every 3 years or so. This seems to give a good balance between component cost and performance
  3. Best Windows PC 2023

Corel doesnt use that many resources, so you don't really need a super high end PC. The main thing is to get a very good graphics card as this makes a big difference to processing times. I have always built my own as its not exactly hard, and use mid range components ( so would have been the...
  4. Sharpie on laminate

+1 for WD40, I always use this and it works great
  5. Why the color variations?

I find when customers are mega fussy about a specific colour, normally because their 'designer' has designed it with a pantone colour then if you print out something close they can't tell the difference anyway. And it always seems to be oranges or greens, which are the worst colours for CYMK...
  6. Need Help Roland VS540 - Print Head or Electronic Issue ?

My guess would be the print carriage board failing. If you have fitted new head cables, the head seems to be getting bad signals from somewhere in the signal chain. If the yellow channel has failed this will stop that one head firing. The yellow overprint you were getting is normally a symptom...
  7. Why the color variations?

One of the banes of my life is customers with colour matching. When they send you a photograph of something they have and say can you match this colour....
  8. Why the color variations?

I always tell customers matching pantone colours isn't normally possible for printing as they are different systems and a CMYK printer cannot exactly replicate most pantones, so there will always be some colour variation. If it essential I will print out some test squares and send them to them...
  9. Backlit Vinyl Bubbling After 3 Years

Looks like maybe heat damage? Has it been particularly hot where it was fitted? Very strange though as never seen anything like that unless it has been cleaned recently and its a chemical reaction
  10. CJV150 Service Manual

IIRC it is similar to the Roland printers though where most of the main boards are behind the back cover on the control panel end of the printer
  11. CJV150 Service Manual

You can download it for free from here : https://pdfcoffee.com/cjv150maintenance-manual-d500994-ver100pdf-pdf-free.html Seems to cover all the CJV models
  12. VS540i blobby issue with nozzle check

If it prints ok after the clean, I would keep doing that for as long as possible to put off having to get the new head. You never know it may fix itself over time.
  13. VS540i blobby issue with nozzle check

I think it is probably new head time. The multiple soaks and cleanings could have damaged the nozzles, and you have ruled out pretty much everything else that could be a cause
  14. Does all 3M have markings on the backing paper?

If you buy from an official dealer for the vinyl manufacturer then you can be pretty sure you are getting the genuine article. No dealer is going to risk it selling counterfeit vinyl. I have never even seen or heard of counterfeit vinyl. There really isn't enough margin in it to make it worth a...
  15. Need help choosing a printer

A lot depends on what sort of work you are going to do. I still think the Edge is better for specialist colours as the print costs are very high compared to eco solvent. I mainly do logo printing from vectors and rarely photo type stuff. On the Roland this is great as if you print in high...
  16. Trade printer entertainment

I had a funny one once. Did some custom decals for a customers Harley. He was delighted with them and sent me some photos of the result which is quite common with bike owners when I do work for them. A couple of normal ones of the bike showing both sides, one of him sitting on it, and a couple...
  17. Mimaki Cjv30-130 started printing all black mid print.

90% of the time when this happens it is either the head cables, or the head board they are plugged into rather than the head ( I use Rolands so not sure of the exact board layout of the Mimaki ). When mine did this it was a failing head board and replacing that fixed it Try swapping cables from...
  18. Rant Hiring Installers

I think training someone up is the only answer really. If there is a lack of new talent, and there is demand for installers, they have to start somewhere and that involves taking someone on and training them. Yes, you may get a lazy one, but if you are offering a good job, then you can get...
  19. Rant Hiring Installers

Its always a problem when there is a shortage of skilled workers. The experienced ones will contract as they can earn a lot more money and are so busy they can pick and choose who they work for. TBH it is a skilled job though, so the pay should reflect this. It's not like you can expect someone...
  20. Rant Vector drawing,,,Have we gone back 40 years?

Ah ok, the work I do it has to be vectors, this is mainly high quality logos, so normally using a raster image isn't suitable, particularly when someone gives you a small low resolution logo and may want it blown up to 50 times its original size
