  1. Can anyone guess what is wrong with this printer.... ( this is a weird one )

I took one of the covers off and was trying to work out why there was bits of yellow foam everywhere !
  2. Can anyone guess what is wrong with this printer.... ( this is a weird one )

Have been working on an SP40i which was not working and giving all sorts of errors. The yellow stuff is foam and should go all the way across the part behind the pipes. It also shouldnt have seeds in it Checked some other parts so far and found the wires to the wiper position sensor and head...
  3. Roland sp 540v print an cut off

I cant really tell from your pic, but both your scan and feed look off. When you print out the test, peel the vinyl off and you can see exactly where the cut line is going in relation to the printed marks
  4. Wall of Shame

I would never try and put vinyl directly onto a brick or block wall. If it did stick then it would look awful as all the texture would show through. Would either make a solid sign or put some sort of smooth sheets up onto the wall for the vinyl to be fitted to
  5. Question Is there a trick to keeping a print head from drying out?

I dont think anything like that would work really. The nozzle holes are so small in solvent print heads that you would never be able to wipe something off them, it would more likely push the substance into the heads and block them. The printers have never been designed to be left not in use for...
  6. Question Is there a trick to keeping a print head from drying out?

Really with any solvent printer they need to be printing something every couple of days, or preferably every day. Do you have anyone who can go in and run off a simple print job every few days for you ? Just one inch squares of each colour across the width of a sheet is enough to keep them...
  7. SG2-300 questions

Count on new print head, pump, captops, dampers and probably ink lines too. All solvent printers are pretty much the same if left to dry up
  8. Roland sp 540v print an cut off

The next things to do would be to clean the encoder strip, or replace. Clean or replace sensor encoder and if none of that works it points to a failing print carriage board ( the encoder connects to this, and the signal is sent from there to the main board )
  9. SP540i service manual anyone?

Hi, does anyone have one? Need to do some board repair investigations so need the schematics Thanks in advance !
  10. Roland sp 540v print an cut off

Hi do you mean the cutting is not aligned properly to the print, so is cutting in the wrong place? Have you gone through the cut calibration on the printer as this will allow you small adjusments. If it is out more than this then there are various reasons it can happen
  11. Heaters too high or pinch roller pressure not right?

I run Rolands, but have the print temp on the lowest setting, and have never had any problems like that. Have you checked your fans are working and sucking the vinyl down evenly across the width?
  12. Better looking sign

I preferred the original, it had the rustic / street art vibe to it :D
  13. Roland SP-540V Parts

You could probably make your own overlay easily enough as well by scanning the old one then recreating it, print it out and laminate it and it should last much better than the original. Bit of a design mistake really Roland printing them with an ink that gets eaten by the ink in the printer !
  14. Roland SP-540V Parts

There are normally some on ebay. There was also someone on there selling an overlay decal to stick onto your old one to tidy it up
  15. Need Help cut being stretched from one edge

I had a similar problem on my SP years ago. It turned out it was cutting in the correct place, but it was the actual print that was drifting out over the width of the vinyl. Try printing and cutting some test squares an equal distance apart, say 10mm, then when it finishes measure if it is the...
  16. roland VS-540 ink type missing

I dont think the firmware can be downgraded once installed, you may have to change over to max3 and just use those instead.
  17. How to get a more accurate ink-level reading?

The ink remaining is never that accurate, it mainly estimates based on the amount of printing done which is why you often get the warning there may not be enough ink to do a job when there is still plenty left. I can normally tell by just taking the cart out and feeling the weight
  18. Bleed?

He isn't talking about a bleed around an item for cutting - I typically use 1.5mm for this. This is a bleed around the ordered size of a printed sheet so the fitters have more to work with to fit to wherever they are putting it ( so room for error lining it up )
  19. Bleed?

I would agree. Adding 1.5" all round, so 3" extra on the length and width isn't really a bleed, that is asking for a larger print. Tell them you can redo them at the new size with a new price
  20. Question Mutoh valuejet ink low beeping

Ah ok, might be worth getting for the OP anyway as they can swap the sensor over if they can't just get the sensor on its own from Mutoh. I know Roland don't sell them ( we tried to get one everywhere ) and it only came as part of the complete dock.
