  1. CutContour not recognized in Onyx Poster shop

Looks like your color tab is correct. That's really strange. So it's isolated to that one computer - was anything changed recently? If you'd like to email me a file that's not working I can having a look. pat@signcraftdisplay.com Edited to add: Is it just this one file? Or any file...
  2. CutContour not recognized in Onyx Poster shop

Check these settings under color tab when exporting to PDF:
  3. Question about the router on the Summa F series

We have the basic/Kress router on our F1612 and I wouldn't recommend it for cutting aluminum. Pretty sure you need some sort of cooling/misting feature on a dedicated CNC to properly cut aluminum. I've tried, and have broken bits and wasted a few hours. ACM will cut nicely when you get the...
  4. Question Any Ideas of which Vinyl and Lam?

Anyone remember Gerber/3M Permagrip vinyl? We used to use it on our Gerber Edge. I would suspect it's something (digital version) like that - needs to bite like crazy to adhere to carpet well.
  5. Question First $1,000,000 in sales?

Woooo can't wait to check it out!
  6. What would you like to learn more about in the print ind?

Cool, thanks. I've briefly explored Trello in the past but will give it another look. Nice to see how it's being used in a production setting.
  7. What would you like to learn more about in the print ind?

For me, it would be job management/scheduling. Still struggling to find a solution for efficiently writing up orders and getting them (efficiently) scheduled for production.
  8. Which Machine to Buy

Yep no problem. I know the best case is a flatbed that through-cuts everything but our customers never complained about the old way for 10+ years. And just remember, gathering the through-cut decals off the flatbed is also a project / part-time job for someone! We have a couple similar to...
  9. Which Machine to Buy

Kiss-cutting, weeding, then hand-trimming into singles isn't all that bad. I've probably done hundreds of thousands of decals this way over the years and I really don't mind it. I'll usually trim into strips, staple a few strips together, then cut the stack on a guillotine cutter. So you're...
  10. Which Machine to Buy

A flatbed cutter will through-cut the decals with a knife, so they just fall off the roll. It is possible to perf-cut decals on a roll cutter like Summa/Graphtec but I personally have never gone this route. We ran a few jobs this way on our Roland but it was a pain and results weren't...
  11. Which Machine to Buy

If you're looking for a new printer, laminator, and flatbed cutter, you'll need to bump your budget to closer to $90k to get something good and reliable when you factor in a RIP like Onyx Thrive. With that being said, we only just recently added a flatbed cutter (Summa F1612) and as much as I...
  12. Employees quit after a few weeks?!?!

Interesting. Not sure I'd go as far as offering something like this but I can see the value in it, especially in a larger company. After months of talking about it, we're finally trying to hire someone. Picked 2 candidates out of a bunch of them and went through phone interviews. Had both...
  13. Review Great Air Scrubber for Solvent Printers

Cool, thanks! We just ordered one. Should be here in a couple of weeks. :thumb:
  14. Packing Floor Decals

Depending on how it's shipping and how large the graphics are, we'll usually roll on outside of a core, then taped tight and packed with roll holders inside a vinyl box. This way it has nowhere to go. Add a layer of foam wrap if you're really worried about shipping damage.
  15. Review Great Air Scrubber for Solvent Printers

FireSprint.com Do you guys still like this air scrubber set up? Any complaints? I've got it in my cart, was about to take the plunge but thought I'd check first. Might try one out to put between our roll printers and add one more near the flatbed if it works well. Thanks. :thumb:
  16. We're (Trying) to buy a new building!

Congratulations Gene! That's exciting news. Please keep us posted as you get closer - would love to see the planning that goes into setting up a new space that size.
  17. 3M Exiting Stencil and Filler Markets Effective Immediately

Perhaps, but it may encourage smaller companies/manufacturers to pick up the slack and find new opportunities when there is a demand. (Or at least I'd like to think so.....)
  18. 3M Exiting Stencil and Filler Markets Effective Immediately

Would these be like "mask" films? I remember when we used to do lots of sandblasted cedar signs we used Anchor mask film. Really thick, rubbery stuff that was a real pain to weed and lift with premask.
  19. Tour Coach Bus

Standard half-a$$ post expecting people to come pouring in with answers for ya, huh?
  20. Help me understand these Roland specs......

Mechanical resolution: Who knows, who cares Distance accuracy: How accurately it can cut over a long distance Repetition accuracy: How accurately it will reproduce the same shape over and over I personally wouldn't worry about these specs - how the machine performs in real life has nothing to...
