Trust me, you'll regret not going with at least a 54" printer! Been there, I think it took 2 weeks after I got my first 30" printer that I had a request for a 4' by 8' banner.
I lost a lt cyan head once even with printing the gutters. The gutter still printed but the colors turned pink. Luckily I caught it at the beginning of the print.
It is definitely tedious!! I think my light targets were way off too, even after scanning. I will have to calm myself down, and try it again. I will try to take some screen shots in case I mess up again and hopefully that will make it a little easier to trouble shoot.
I never thought of lubing...
I am finally taking the time to try to figure this out. Does anyone have any tips? I am all new to this. I am using Caldera with EasyMedia. For the tool, I have a i1 Pro2. I made it to the end once, then it gave me an error saying there was too many variations in the target scans.
Any tips...
I highly recommend the ultra high tack stuff from Substance Media!! It is way better than Arlon 8000. They also have air egress versions too. The 440LSE would be similar, but better than 8000. They also have one that is way stickier too! They are also willing to send out test samples.
I just used the HP gloss vinyl profile. However, I would recommend the substance media for an ultra aggressive adhesive vinyl. It works way better and doesn't leave adhesive all over like DPF8000 does.
The one that would be comparable is the 440LSE...
That's good to know. My L260 will make a "printable" chrome look like a silver. Too much heat. I have been able to print on Avery Supreme Wrap silver with good results.
What program are you designing in? What RIP do you use? I layout a 100K in Illustrator, when printing in Caldera with the proper settings, they always come out solid black.
Sounds like it could be a RIP setting.
Did you put tension on the end sticking out past the heater? If you grab corner next to the control panel and pull slightly to the center of the roll, you should be able to get the edge to go flat enough to finish loading.
