  1. Caldera Spot Color Management-Resources or Help?

Sweet! Caldera isn't my favorite...it all feels backwards! I prefer Onyx, but I couldn't get a good profile with my setup. A lot of the spot color issues we see have to do with how files are constructed. We've seen issues in blending modes too. We really only trust normal or multiply. Also have...
  2. Onyx postershop unable to read size from printer

Sounds dumb...but maybe wipe off the media sensor on the epson.
  3. Lets see some pics of larger out of the ordinary jobs

Here's a round sign we just did. Double sided, 10ft tall, 64' diameter. Tension frame and fabric.
  4. Proof/layout assistance: how much information to include?

We absolutely list each Pantone color...and if there is a mixed bag with cmyk or rgb, we list that on our proof as well. This would have saved you as they would have signed off on it. It's just important to disclaim that monitors are not to be used to judge color. We actually require a pms if...
  5. Question Caldera Rip V11.2

I go through this every restart. Sometimes it takes me opening the printer two or three times before it takes. Once it shows up active, the spooler will open too. I could try to fix it, but as a printer, I'm used to working around bugs and such. With hardware and software.
  6. PDF Settings!

Manually from native art. CTRL/SHIFT/O Super easy. Not sure why customers have such a hard time. Another workaround is to place a pdf with live fonts in Illustrator (as a link) then embed. It kills transparency and effects, but if you are just trying to get the text outlined...it works!
  7. Sublimation mentor wanted in SE Michigan

What kind of challenges are you up against? What model of printer are you running? I've learned just about everything the hard way...
  8. Question Need to pick the brain of an illustrator guru.

Hey! I love macs! Love Illustrator too. I can run it on any machine though... Ran into a coworker that was also reliant on his "customized" workspace. An update came along...it did not support legacy "workspaces" He was worthless for a month! Damn good at what he did...but his...

  15. Ink Rubbing off Fabric Transfers

Solvent or aqueous ink? I have had issues with drying, but at the printer, not after it is heat set. The only material I direct print is backlit fabric. I have to run my printer at half speed or the ink will impose onto the backside of the take up...leaving an image ghost on the backside which...
  16. Remember scanning?

I had one of the jellybean g3's...maybe os8.6 or 9.2 for awhile. It was slow as hell, but it WOULD finish whatever command I attempted. My comparable Dell for the time would crash like nobody's business! Had a cool G3 Splash rip for my xerox color laser...it wouldn't print in sets...so hand...
  17. Remember scanning?

A typical interaction with a client USED to be Customer: Did you get my files? Everything good? Me: Yeah, it all came through. (We both had the newest tools and would geek out about how much easier they've made it) Customer: Okay, well if any weird postscript comes up, let me know. Me: Cool...
  18. Remember scanning?

All true. I miss grit. And class.
  19. Remember scanning?

It's therapeutic...and isn't making signs about when people say "Nice!" Consistently hitting it ain't easy. But only signmakers can know some of this crap. Thankful for your advice. I can't even get perfect rolls of stock but people want perfect prints. And they have to truck it from the...
