That's exactly what I suggested GX! Replicate the goldies only in flourescent colors.......so.......yeah, that's your only hope bud! :thumb: Good luck!! ~Gear
  2. outdoor sign questions (vinyl on plex)

"taper to a sharp point"......mmmm? Not sure what you're referring to. "Is there a minimum width I should try to stay above?" ....I'm sorry again bro....I'm not following you here either. I'm kinda dense in my old age... ~Gear
  3. Is this a font 11 SIX..?

Yeah TVG, the "1"s look like plain old Gothic italic...but, the script looks completely home-made. Of course, I suppose they all start "at home" somewhere, eh?
  4. Flurescent colored Squeegies

I think you'd be better off just sticking to creating the right formula for the type of squeegee we already like to use. If you did THAT first, we wouldn't care if we could squeegee under a black light or not. Let us know when you create a good one! :thumb: ~Gear
  5. ebay vinyl?

Wellllllll.........??? Ewwww......eBay. All I can ever think of when I think eBay is, "old radios and car parts." Honestly, the thought of getting anything sign-related gives me the willies. I mean, c'mon guys, we've all heard the stories about those 300 dollar cutters...
  6. Happy 50th, Helvetica! :)

I remember seeing it spring up in every airport over here after it hit really big in the UK. Oh, remember the arrows that came out with it? Ya gotta just still LOVE that "helvetica arrow in a circle" for directionals. ...right? :thumb:
  7. Happy 50th, Helvetica! :)

I think that Helvetica is one of the most beautiful type faces ever created. The subtle "thicks and thins" of the forms are absolutely perfect. The curves of the rounds and that "R" was ground breaking in it's design. All making for one of the most readable and clean sans serif type styles...
  8. outdoor sign questions (vinyl on plex)

No problemo bud. Man, don't you just LOVE the money that is made on face replacements? I sure do! :thumb: ~Gear
  9. outdoor sign questions (vinyl on plex)

Well, Gino ol' buddy....looks like no one can say we're not on the "same page". LOL  Posted it exactly at the same minute. :thumb: ~G.
  10. outdoor sign questions (vinyl on plex)

For just regular translucent vinyl....I've never had a problem with the edges curling up. I usually lay everything out butt fit in the shop standing perfectly square on some thick angle iron...like a full 12 to whatever length you'd like...sitting on the floor. Then I tape the back of the...
  11. outdoor sign questions (vinyl on plex)

I usually find it best with signs this size to go with 3/16" or 1/4" thick plex and cut them 1/2" (one half) undersize for the fit all the way around. So, cut your plex 83.5 X 143.5. :thumb: ~Gear
  12. To all I Apologize !!

Oh, yeah, and there's nobody else here who EVER Mis-pells words. LOL  No worries dude. But, thanks for being vulnerable and stating your heart on this. That's cool man. :thumb: And I apologize if I were one of the jerks giving you a bad time at all about it. Sometimes I pick...
  13. Estimate Problem

Have you contacted the EstiMate® guys, Jonathan or Phillip ....about this? I mostly use the "freestyle" form of pricing my stuff. Also, don't know if you're aware of it...but there's a good message board their website. Here's on of a few discussions about your subject I found with a quick...

  15. Illustrator mystery...

Well, I just went back and checked on my version 7. I don't even HAVE "bounding box" options. LOL That was on 10 back at the shop I worked at last up north. ha!
  16. Illustrator mystery...

Oh, I know...it's "show bounding box". Just kidding Doug. You know though...I also like Illustrator a lot and I have used it since it's inception right up to 7 . That's it. That's all I use in Ai. But, I know I should upgrade to CS...I just don't. No printer here...and I use...
  17. Extreme Makeover Design Contest

AAGirl, I've preached for YEARS to NEVER adjust copy 'til it's close to the edge of the layout...."it just won't breathe". This sign should be one that broke all the sacred rules choking itself to death. Yeah, this one is definitely going STRAIGHT to hell when it dies! LOL And look...
  18. Still pre-masking by hand..

Ewwwwww...... Jill.....they GUSH because it's GOLD! Nobody really cares that the thing breaks almost every rule of layout mechanics. "...ewww.....it's just so shiny....so RICH looking.....ewww"
  20. Extreme Makeover Design Contest

Oh Lordy is that ever true Jill !! My very first experience with LOSING a sign bid was when I "fixed" a guy's design that he had spent a very long time on in his own drawing room. I was 25 and the sting of that moment still is in my head thirty years later. That's why I always...
