  2. In Stock Vinyl vs. Ordering

Sounds like buying a steak at walmart and taking it to a restaurant and asking them to prepare it for you then asking them to deduct the price of the steak from the bill.
  3. Help: where is the cheapest place to buy sign vinyl?

You could use your plotter to make pounce patterns on paper and paint your signs. Paper is cheap and so is paint. Imagine how much money you could make if you did not have to pay for vinyl.
  4. Started my flatbed mounting table

You can also get a lot of the parts you need from McMaster. Here is a flatbed table we built out of a cannibalized diage laminator and sign extrusions. Never finished it with the pneumatics cause it worked so great as is. The gantry has 4 heavy duty bearings on each side it moves like butter...

  6. Roland giving some money back ?

Oh please forgive my antiquated solution. I just come from the old school where you had to at least be able draw a stick figure and hand cut a letter o. I am curious why you insist on blaming the machine for the problem when you don't know how to check the box for the number of passes to make.
  7. Roland giving some money back ?

From the pictures of the cuts your machine is making a blind person could be more accurate.
  8. Roland giving some money back ?

I know someone else has probably said this. Why don't you just hand cut it and be done with it till you can figure out if the problem is you or the machine.:banghead: After looking at your graphic that's how we would do it. It's to simple of graphic to chance laminating and sticking back in...
  9. Storefront Canvas Awning - Vinyl or Paint?

+1 for painting with latex. Make your mask with the thinest high performance vinyl, use a heat gut and rivet brush to work it into the fabric. Make the first coat the color of the awning so you won't notice any bleed. Stroke it lightly in the proper direction.
  10. Vector vs Raster, Resolution, and Scaling

Very nice vid and effort. But who do you think is going to really watch the whole 15 minutes and absorb it. Personally I think it would be more effective if you could dumb it down to about 30 seconds.
  11. Roland giving some money back ?

What is the real problem ? These machines/tools usually do what they are told to do. Most of the problems are human errors. Is it a defective machine or is it an inexperienced machine operator ?

  16. It's okay to not make every change to a design that others suggest.

Interesting topic. I think all designers go through this this torture. I try to shy away from customers who question my judgement. The best we can do is try to see it coming and nip it in the bud before it escalates. It could also be an opportunity if you are hired as consultant/designer with...
