  1. Opinions on Canon Wide-Format Printers?

there's some canon owners on this board. but LL has quite a bit more debate on which is best (epson, canon, HP). http://www.luminous-landscape.com/forum/index.php?board=6.0
  2. Vutek RFID problems and bypasses

montrealer is a 200/600 expert. a while back he offered this response to a similar thread. it might not be perfect. but evidently, he's got it working. what is odd is all the "solutions" to rfid's that companies offer. my bet is that either a tech does it but does not explain or a firmware...
  3. Sheriff paid Mosh a visit

two times this weekend someone across the street has set off some dynamite or plastic explosives. no one even came out to see what it was, i was outside, i didn't even walk across the street. needless to say i live in texas, we are all libertarians but most are unaware of the term.
  4. Hi! from a Graphic Artist in TX

welcome from houston (freeport, texas). i do a lot of high end interior signage in houston. i'd be thrilled for someone to just hand me a file once in a while. clients are making me nuts lately. http://www.flickr.com/photos/alldredge/sets/72157627000489887/...
  5. Mimaki jv3 160s Media Trouble

the results you are getting don't make sense. i might blame the firmware. there's reloading and or upgrading. but keep in mind that there is a firmware upgrade for the jv33 that causes your printer to reject standard dx5 heads. sightline should be able to inform you of what this is about...
  6. Mimaki Latex

it does sound like they over engineered on this one. there's no way that they couldn't have used a proton, or polaris, etc. these printer companies have this lamborghini mentality. if they had told their engineers $18,500 that's it. design it. they could have built a great printer. they...
  7. Fuzzy edges when printing black

looks like it's bleeding. i'd name whatever rip you are using. there are some rip gurus that will be able to guide you through the correct density adjustment.
  8. Mimaki jv3 160s Media Trouble

the linear encoder is a testable observable part. if it looks pristine, forget it. get a flashlight, a business card and a magnifying glass, go down the strip and observe every inch of it. whether you have a bad strip or a good one, that will only result in it not counting enough lines...
  9. Best way to remove adhesive from emblems

when i have exhausted all possibilities, butyl cellosolve. soak the spot really good (it has no solvent in it). it gets inside of the adhesive and turns it into rubber non-stick boogers. just rub and roll them off.
  10. New shop logo...tear me apart please!

bottom left, maybe bump the "& restyling" out and bolder a bit. possibly play with a blue spot shadow on the graphic within the box.
  11. XTR-1313 Flatbed UV Looking at buying one, need some opinions

was digging for something else, but came across some of inwear's new gear. looks like they updated their small format uv printer. looks sharp. http://zsinwear.en.alibaba.com/product/379197903-210509928/UV_Flatbed_Konica_Printer.html
  12. Mimaki jv3 160s Media Trouble

make sure that side of the printer isn't in the shadows. it's needs some decent contrast sometimes. for now, just do a manual media width in the rip and bypass the firmware.
  13. Mimaki Latex

there's a couple posts here. one mentioned that the white latex was quite opaque. i'd like some more info on the opacity if you can give that a look. one thing to discuss is the price of the heads. they are supposedly very expensive. also, always bring your own media to any testing!
  14. FLA unearthed multiple violations of the labor law at Apple factories

rather than having a western reporter go to china and complain about conditions maybe we should educate ourselves about chinese culture. http://www.ted.com/talks/lang/en/martin_jacques_understanding_the_rise_of_china.html rosling has a really interesting talk too...
  15. strange banding JV3160sp

in the mean time, clean the damper out. you can dunk it in ultrasonic and it will be good as new or aggressively jet solution through it backwards.
  16. Small UV Roll to Roll

so here the scale of economics. build a printer with about $4000 worth of parts (bought in bulk of course). sell the printer for $30,000, then convince the owner that all other ink brands will cause the printer to explode.... $50,000 in ink sales. sell extended warranties, the list goes on...
  17. Rastek T1000

there's a lot to read on this message board about this series having issues. i once read on a website that a rastek salesman had a friend looking the the machine at a trade show and was over heard telling him "i wouldn't sell one of these to my worst enemy".
  18. Small UV Roll to Roll

this industry is suffering from EXTREME over engineering. pharmaceutical companies do not develop drugs that cost $0.33 a pill. the formulas are out there. but there's no money in it. $10k for heads is off the charts. here's an LED uv cure mutoh going at it. this whole rig probably cost...
  19. Recomendatios Chinese Printer DX5 head

no chinese OEM repsonds asap. it's somewhat cultural and somewhat the nature of being a factory. wit-color, as do the other builders, have distributors that buy containers full of these printers at a time. wit-color has a mexican, brazilian, russian, and more. and then a guy like us calls...
  20. FLA unearthed multiple violations of the labor law at Apple factories

60 hour week! oh the horror... i've worked a couple 30+ hour days in the last few months. of course i get to be in the country, drink beer, and have my family near me all day. but that's beside the point. a sixty hour week is part-time around here. and those images of people falling asleep...
