You got it wrong mate, I envy your courage, there are a lot of stuff that can go wrong, and I'd be a pussy to jump into something like that without my current experience especially on government jobs where they ask for a crazy long guarantee time (at least here in the UK).
No printer and no laminator yet doing jobs for the gov, boy I wish I had this much business sense. I need to stop being a pussy...
Anyway,
If you have the space to apply your lam with water then 20"x30" is really not a big deal, but you can always buy a cheap cold laminator from eBay for like $100

I don't really do short runs, I leave the printed media in the printer without cutting it so they are printed one after the other, I also don't ask stupid questions like they want matt or gloss or silk lam, glossy it is.
Funny thing Mimaki and Roland uses Epson printheads :roflmao:
*PS Roland USED to run with Epson printheads but it was expensive so they went for a cheaper shetty one (Ricoh i believe) this is why truevis is so bad
You don't need to keep fingerprints off your media, just don't print on the first 15" let it overhang from the printer. It may seem like a waste but if there are no fingerprints there will be dust on the exposed vinyl.
Ringing ears are the signs of dying hearing sensors, either get some earplugs or move further away. High sound levels for prolonged time not only makes you tired but will cause permanent hearing loss.
truvis is shit, bn20 is just as good as Epson but it's slow, and by slow I mean super slow like really really slow.
I used mimaki cjv150 for stickers it's pretty good and it has a built in cutter - download and zoom in, blue background is offset print.
Don't know too much about IPs but I can imagine suing somebody would take a lot of time/energy so if they don't make a good money on it you'd probably only be compensated for the cost attorney and stuff.
