  1. Discussion new blades

If it feels good then you're doing it wrong. As cuts gets worse I gradually increase pressure and use the knife for months without issues, when I install fresh ones I have to reset the pressures - which I hate :)
  2. Question Will this work?

I don't see why it wouldn't. Sometimes I draw the cut lines "manually" if they happen to be too small and it works. In the future try setting up shorter sets and duplicate them in the rip, you should have a repeating cut option on your cutter
  3. Vinyl on Brushed Aluminum?

If you wanna be on the safe side use high tack vinyl, but since regular vinyl stick to paint on the wall it should be safe to use on brushed aluminum as well. You can also use a heatgun and this roller to maximise surface contact.
  4. [PNC-950]Help bringing this old beast back from the dead?

you need win XP pc with integrated parallel port (not usb converter and not laptop) it's called handshake protocol - won't get into details, you can google it if you want a headache
  5. Need Help Onyx Profiling, how to change head speed / scan speed?

Because he's talking about head movement speed not print speed.
  6. Roland Tech service quote $$ Are you serious?? $$

I may sound an assh*le but if you can afford the luxury to not know how to change basic stuff on your printer you should not complain about the price. Everything on your list is explained on YouTube and labour shouldn't take more than an afternoon.
  7. Suggestions Corrugated metal siding

I'd stick some wood sticks with VHB in the grooves to make a flat surface for the screws, and use self drilling screws to fix everything to the metal, sandwiching the wood in the middle
  8. Attaching standoffs with adhesive

Looks like an expensive job, why not print the pattern on the back of the board mirrored, you'll have perfect alignment
  9. CG-160FXII - Can you download Fine Cut software?

You cannot download for free, but you can buy it for around $250, just had the conversation with mimaki rep last week. The CD itself doesn't contain a serial number but you have to have it in the cd-rom to generate one. You can borrow someone's cd and have a serial number, you can also use an...
  10. CJV150 from 8-color to 4-color

Nope, there is no difference, orange ink helps only on specific shades of skin colors, but you'll not have brighter oranges, let alone reds wich uses 100% yellow and 100% magenta, no orange. If you want really vibrant reds get an epson 60800, I worked with one with red ink and it pokes your eyes...
  11. CJV150 from 8-color to 4-color

No, it's not possible. I worked with both 4+4 and 8 color mimakis and the difference is minimal, only visible with gray gradients but you loose half the print speed. Does it worth it?
  12. What printed this?

The blue background is an offset cardboard, the print was made on a mimaki cjv150, nothing fancy just plain CMYK
  13. Removing PDF security on Mac and PC

Illustrator, with cutePDF it does't matter where you print from
  14. Removing PDF security on Mac and PC

On a pc you can "print" to pdf with a virtual printer (like the free cutePDF) it removes the 'protection' from pdf-s that allows printing
  15. Discussion Anyone that can add laminate to vinyl perfectly

Yeah :) the secret is tack cloth, you wipe the print constantly as it gets laminated (hope the sign mobs will not kill me for giving this away) https://www.amazon.co.uk/cloth-tacky-individually-wrapped-cloths/dp/B01MS7BBOO
  16. Suggestions Large Decals

Nice job. I mean shitty job but nice execution.
  17. Need Help Stretching Problem Vinyl Laminate

Funny cuz when I apply vinyl to ACM manually it always gets stretched no matter how gentle I am but when I apply it with the roller laminator it's always perfect. The cheapest option is to try getting someone to show you how to properly do it
  18. Small format auto feeder print-to-cut machine decision

Mimaki cutter plotter can "search" for copies, I set up the cut file for one copy in Illustrator, set up the number I want in rip, mimaki will find the copies and read cut marks for each. Do you cut the same design for every xerox print? If so paperfox die cutter may be an option
  19. Making Videos

signs101 is indeed the perfect place to find a creative videographer I have to give you that, but right now I have a long backlog for my tiktok videos
