  1. 2 of the same Roland printers print different results??

With Versaworks 6, there would be a function addressing this problem with a quite cheap densitometer from Roland.Versaworks 6 doesn't support the XC... With Versaworks 5.5 you can try to visually adjust the density printouts to look the same, by clipping the "stronger" printer. If you have...
  2. Roland BN-20 Question

BN-20 needs a service app since it has no display or keypad. This has been this way since the introductin of the BN-20. The ink used can be EcoMax, EcoMax2, FPG or in Europe also EcoMax3. (I would suggest using EcoMax2 for maximum printhead life)
  3. Question Cutting master 5 not accurate with print and cut

If the offset is the same on all jobs, adjust the offset in the condition you are using.
  4. BN-20 Print

When I look at the nozzle test print, it's clear. The printhead needs to be replaced.
  5. Roland VG to VG2 Firmware removes service mode, end user access deleted??

Hi I've read about this in the new postings and thought, has this "new" ink finally arrived in the US? But then i looked at the date of most postings and they were from 2019. Most, if not all the manufacturers of printers and most other electronic devices don't want the end users to play around...
  6. Roland VG2 end rollers will not engage

Sorry, it's a VG2 with a motorized middle roller mechanism. You have to troubleshoot the lever mechanism.
  7. Versacamm VP540 "Now Processing" message

What are the scan motor hours? I had a failing scan motor giving this intermittent error once on a VS. On VP's I had many network problems. When this happened, only mainboard replacement helped. But, these boards are no longer available from Roland.
  8. Roland VG2 end rollers will not engage

Most of the time, the roller holders are broken and need replacement. The springs of the outer rollers are much stronger and the plastic part, holding there rollers is too weak.
  9. VG-540 Scan Motor Replacement (Scan Motor Error 0020 0020)

Most of these motors fail much too early. I had some failing after 170 h. (They should last 3000h) I opened one, to see what is causing these issues an found out, it was dirt on the internal encoder disk. I cleaned it and they run ever since. To open, you need to unsolder the stator coils and...
  10. Half of my Cyan isn't working - Roland LEJ-640

Hi Your printhead has a electrical defect and needs replacement. I had this problem on multiple LEJ's lately.
  11. Discussion Plotter/Cutter of Choice?

The HP cutter is a Summacut and the HP plus is a Summa S-One. HP uses a special barcode with the SAI Software, which is pretty user friendly und when you need a printer, cutter and software; the price is nice. As far as i can judge, it should be possible to "un-HP" a HP, or HP a Summa via...
  12. Question HP Latex 300 Calibration

Sorry for my late reply... If you made the profile (and color reference)on printer A in good condition, you don't need to do a color calibration before you copy it to printer B. You can do it after copying. Of course you need to do color calibrations on both printers quite often, if you want...
  13. Need Help SG-540 Cutting Issues

Hello Does it happen all the time, or just intermittently? I'm asking, because i have a similar problem with a customer. (I'm certified Roland Tech) With this machine, it only happens once every couple of weeks. I would like to do a test, if it happens on every job.
  14. Discussion I've owned an HP R1000 since April 2019, ask me anything

Printing on the belt isn't what you should do all the time. I can tell you that, as a R-Series certified tech since June 2018. White ink on the belt will instantly create problems, since the edges of the mediae can't be detected anymore. When a lot ink is deposited on the belt, the vacuum is...
  15. Question HP Latex 300 Calibration

This won't be easy or even impossible, since different Rips can use different color engines and profiling solutions. HP Latex printers handle linearization and ink limits internally. The more expensive ones have a i1 measurement device built in. The 360 certainly has one and can create ICC...
  16. Hp latex 315 or Mimaki cjv150

Go for the HP Summa combo. I know Mimaki and Roland printcut machines. I service them. They are ok, but i'd go for latex. Latex prints are ready for delivery or mounting or cutting right after they are printed. Latex 3rd generation inks are more scratch resistant than any ecosolvent inks. Often...
  17. LEJ-640 FT UV Flatbed problems. Ending my silence

Solution for vertical banding Today i got a reply from Roland Europe regarding vertical banding. They say, that it can only be reduced by using "fix dot". I think this means using only only the large dot size. Unfortunately they say, Versaworks isn't capable to do this. Later this week, i...
  18. LEJ-640 FT UV Flatbed problems. Ending my silence

Yellow trouble If you haven't already done it, flush the ink lines before you change the dampers. In my cases, the problems started with EcoUV2 ink lot# 5A19D1B101 exp. Oct/18 2016 If you are very unlucky, the filter in the printhead manifold can also be clogged. After using ink from...
  19. LEJ-640 FT UV Flatbed problems. Ending my silence

Yellow ink What ink do you use? There is EcoUV Ver.2-4. Lately i had some issues with yellow Ver.2 as well. Either they changed the formulation or just some bad batches... The dampers clog pretty fast. First i changed the dampers and flushed the ink tubing. It worked for a while for the...
  20. LEJ-640 FT UV Flatbed problems. Ending my silence

A Roland Tech Hi all I have been called to a customer with this problem yesterday. (i'm supporting Roland printers, since FJ-50 or around Y2K) It's a standard LEJ, but the cause for vertical banding is highly likely the same. I have other customers with this printer and haven't heard...
