  3. Price Beatdown

Dude, there are whores here just like everywhere else. You have to outsell them. Period. The job I just posted we were $440 higher than the next guy for both vans. We sell jobs like this EVERY day.
  4. Price Beatdown

There's one big difference: We get ~$2600 for a standard van wrap. We sell a good volume, but we don't sell on price. The shops down the road that do shotty work, use crappy materials, and give it away can have the $2,000 van wraps--I don't want 'em. They're just not smart because they're...

  7. Test Print means what?

The Roland colors have always printed grainy. I have no idea why but they do. If you need easily reproduceable results, print a pantone chart out, and just pick the color you want from that like you would using Roland colors. That'll give you the color control without the graininess.

  9. Recording customer payments, How do you keep track?

Huh?? Man.. I absolutely love what I do along with everyone on my team, but the bills gotta be paid. There's nothing wrong with being paid or asking <telling> to be paid. You did the work for a previously agreed upon price and you deserve your money.
  10. Business Structure for Sign Shop

S Corporation. No reason to be anything else. A lawyer will charge about a grand to set it up (I think you can do it cheaper on legal zoom or similar). The main advatages are 1) that you more detached from the business in terms of liability, especially if you have employees working for you...
  11. Test Print means what?

You have slight deflections, just like Jack said above and I said before. You need to fix this if that slight banding is bothering you. I'd fix this by wiping the heads as described above. Just a hunch, print a detailed bi-di test and post the results..
  12. Test Print means what?

Can you post a pic (better yet, a high resolution scan) of what you're seeing in photo prints? Some RVW colors print very grainy. That's just the way they are.
  13. The Billboard is up!

Many of you are missing the point. The target audience is of course all businesses, but more importantly businesses that are in the market for a wrap. Therefore, they'll be well aware of what a wrap is. The purpose of a billboard isn't so much to convince the target to buy a wrap (if you...

I've scrubbed the hell out of them before.. I wouldn't recommend it.. just sayin'.
  15. Test Print means what?

I know that's what Roland will tell you not to do.. I'm telling you how I would fix it.. We've run the **** out of our Rolands for years. 12 heads between the two of them, average about 24 liters of ink a month right now (moved a lot of printing over to the latex machines), and have replaced...
  16. Test Print means what?

Soak a swab with cleaning fluid and wipe the head from back to front. Keep the swab clean (don't use a dirty one). Put new wipers in too.
  17. Join the 824 Gang!

No, but that place is amazing. Not too far down the street either.
  18. W-9s furnishe to customers...why?

The only time W9's would ever be an issue is if you're reporting less gross receipts than what is being reported to the IRS by people issuing you 1099's. That is HIGHLY unlikely, as a very small percentage of customers use W9's and 1099's. Most of the companies we do install work for...
