  1. Recommendations for printer/cutter configuration

I can agree that EFI is a superior machine, though I believe they have a price tag to match....what does a 98" print width EFI cost these days? There are plenty of superior machines over HP's hybrid UV printers, but none in my opinion offer the quality/speed at a comparable price. I've ran HP...
  2. Recommendations for printer/cutter configuration

So I've been hands on for 10 years and also on the graphic design/customer service end of it for even longer. Basically done it all except for neon and large LED stuff. I avoid the electrical. And have used the equipment you are considering in a real world production environment. So I would...
  3. cover up

That would be based on design time, square footage, and what vinyl/laminate combo is used. Then after that price is calculated you could adjust higher/lower based on your intentions with the customer....if it looks like a one off and you'll never see them again then make sure you charge enough...
  4. cover up

3551ra/215 for the snipe and a wrap cast of your choice for the full wrap i.e. 3951ra/290 or 180/8519
  5. cover up

To add to what equippaint said...you could add a border or other design elements to your cover up rectangles at an attempt to make it look less terrible...but the right thing to do is just replace the whole thing, maybe use the cover ups (aka “snipes”) for a short period to get your client out...
  6. Does anybody use flat pricing for their vehicle wraps?

Fair enough lmao there’s sense to that...but seriously though grow your business at that point if you want to and if it’s right, OR take advantage of the demand for your product and increase prices...increase profits while reducing work load by scaring off the low budget stuff...sometimes growth...
  7. Does anybody use flat pricing for their vehicle wraps?

This comes with experience and knowing that each class of vehicle has basically the same square footage. Once you’ve done it long enough you realize that calculating the square footage comes out almost the exact same from vehicle to vehicle...within the same class i.e. sedan to sedan, van to...
  8. Autokarv...

Thanks Robert I’m a big fan of Summa, and have a good contact that just started working for Lindenmyer...Summas are great I have one of the plotters...between the bar code reader and a take up reel I can run 150’ rolls of mixed printed graphics fully unattended roll to roll...it never stops...
  9. Autokarv...

Are they any good? I could buy a new one every 3 years for that price and always be under warranty and it would take at least 12 years to equal the cost of a bare bones name brand machine such as Zund, Esko, Kongsberg, etc. I would be as profitable or more by doing that as compared to paying...
  10. Autokarv...

Yep that's what I found, the website has dead links and the company as a whole doesn't seem reputable. The salesman that referred me to them is someone who works for a large and very trustworthy vendor that has been around for many years, and the salesman himself I've known through various...
  11. Autokarv...

Hi all, wondering if anyone has any experience with Autokarv CNC routers. I just had a salesman in my shop recommending them and my own research shows they are pretty new and not finding much info about them. Anybody have any tales of horror or success to share about them? Thanks for your time!
  12. create an ICC profile via your design program

Agreed and good info....to add to it when setting up a file in RGB your rendering intents are much more important because it's possible/likely your RGB file has colors outside the gamut of your printer. The rendering intents determine how the RIP "moves" those colors that are outside the...
  13. How important is it, really?

When the customer calls and says “how quick can I get it?” I chuckle and say “faster than you can pick it up.”
  14. Tips For Reducing Wastage

You make good points, image IS everything. I'm only using laminate to pack boxes when I have end rolls that are too short to thread into the laminator and would be garbage otherwise. And we only reuse unbranded boxes, we receive a lot of goods in plain packaging that are easily reused/rebranded...
  15. Tips For Reducing Wastage

There's always advantages/disadvantages to doing it both ways and it really depends on your specific business/market/employees/etc....but per the original post had asked how to reduce waste and so my response focused on that and less about overall company strategy...we could debate until the...
  16. Tips For Reducing Wastage

And if you're the shop owner...learn as much as possible and participate in the day to day operations. You're saving the cost of an employee as well as keeping in the trenches with your crew. If your right there working with your crew it's easier to see and understand where the waste is...
  17. Tips For Reducing Wastage

Seriously though, I use all the excess backing for packaging material instead of buying bubble wrap or peanuts. I save the plastic ends and boxes that I receive vinyl rolls in and ship out my orders using those, the same way I received them. I save the cardboard tubes from expended rolls and...
  18. Tips For Reducing Wastage

wipe with one hand, eat with the other...toilet paper is for wimps:p
  19. Need Help What's Going on Here? Weird Printing Marks

Haha who doesn't like their nozzle tickled? Good for people, bad for printheads. OK terrible joke I know, couldn't help myself!
  20. HELP! COLOR SHIFTING PROBLEM WITH LATEX PRINTER......

Good call Aegissol! The life of the printhead is huge consideration. Your test prints could show no issues and you could still have a head that isn't fully firing....check the use percentages of your heads. I've regularly pushed them to 200% without issues but any head over 150% can't be trusted...
