Like they said above the key for me has been drawing a line 2" up on the banner, applying the tape to that line, and then folding the material over that. You might still get a crease this way but it will be on the back so it's not seen.

What Mosh said. Use webbing in the hems and NEVER tie a banner up by the corners. Tie your rope/cable between the two points then tie your banner to that. I'd use grommets every two feet and just zip tie it to the cable. Another option, if you're having the webbing/hemming done have them...

If you insist on doing cut vinyl do the black as a solid layer and put the other colors over it. If you just cut the black lines even the slightest shrinkage in the vinyl colors over time will leave horrible looking white spaces.
