  1. Wholesale ADA Signs

Anyone know of a good ADA sign wholesaler to the trade? Thanks
  2. Need Help Drawing for dimensional letters?

VHB to stucco will fail, be prepared for it. You can buy a tap and die set and make your own studs easily.
  3. Need Help Drawing for dimensional letters?

The way I make templates is to get brown craft paper (shipping warehouses, shipping stores and sometimes storage companies have them) you can either print on them just like regular vinyl or you can put a pen in your plotter and do a drawing.
  4. Longest print, lam, cut file you do or have done?

I recently did a 4' X 30' banner. Had it across the room wall to wall on the floor. If it's a print/lam like a 15' piece, I lay it on the floor, because when I go to laminate, I use a lint cloth and wipe it down as it goes through. If it's a small piece or a double sided banner, thumb tack it to...
  5. Tips For Reducing Wastage

Many sign companies throw away their scraps because it takes up room. That is a major waste. Like for vinyl if I cut a 10" X 36" piece and have roughly 12" X 36" left over, I roll it up and put it in a box. If it gets ruined or old, I throw it away, but many times I need to grab a piece and cut...

  8. Just starting out in signs

I agree with everyone, but also know that the sign industry is very different and takes years to learn. You can't say "oh this is just a sticker, I'll slap it on this and give it to the customer" there are lots of things you need to know so your signs don't fail or look horrible. But of course...

  10. Just starting out in signs

Mike, I highly suggest not going with that printer. If you want to just do a little on the sides, it's fine. But if you want to really get into the sign market, you need professional equipment such as Roland, Mimaki, HP. Not saying Mutoh is a piece of junk by any means. It all depends if you...
  11. Overlaminate separating from vinyl

An Avery rep told me that they top coat certain vinyls so you can't laminate them.

  14. Fencing?

I got an email from a church asking us to repair a fence and also replace one. This is a legit email, but I don't see why they think we do fencing? We own a auger and do posts and everything. But it's a metal fence with round bars and chain link. If it was a wooden fence with boards, I'd accept...
  15. Need Help Print cut decal pricing

For regular calendared vinyl printed and laminated, I charge $7.50 / sq. ft. When I price customers say $1.50 for a bumper stick and they tell me do it for $0.75, I tell them to go somewhere else. You really really don't want the cheap jobs. You will break even or go in the red. They will keep...

    1. Pull the laminate towards you. 2. Tuck the laminate under the roller. 3. Run your hands under the roller to ensure it's even. 4. Press against the roller firmly while your lower the roller, once it's firm, you can let go. 5. Tighten as much as you can. 6. Run it on a slow speed and hold the...

Too bad you aren't moving to Virginia, we could use you.
  20. Air bubbles 6 months later...

From my experience this is from either using low tack vinyl or a matte vinyl, or else it's a degassing issue.
