    Tinting Black mixed with clear is what I use.

    You could burnish it it different directions. I use to do that to make prismatic looking letters with golds leaf. Glaze with a tinted clear would work too.

    You can select different kinds of marks and placement of the marks. One of the selections is "none" Post a screen shot.

    It sounds like you have them set to 'none' Also, for the color select "all"

    There are many different types of epoxy paint and prep is a whole other issue. You should be fine, but also not responsible since your not in charge of the painting and dry time.
