  1. Printing United 2021 Canceled?

Damn, that's a shame. So much for the comeback of tradeshows and events :( Maybe next year??
  2. lamination

Definitely. And hopefully learn from your mistake so it doesn't happen again. Low tech solution: Keep lots of stock and if you think it might be close roll it out or put on another roll Higher tech solution: Add a roll counter to your laminator so you can know exactly how much is left on...

  4. Flatbed Cutters

It mostly does everything we need it to do, and the things I can't do are mainly due to user error (me) and not dedicating enough time to test out bits & settings etc. I've gotten somewhat acceptable edges on 1/4" clear acrylic but nothing I was overly impressed with. I'm still convinced I...
  5. Flatbed Cutters

Thanks, will give that a go.
  6. Raster Link 6 plus

We upgraded Onyx to replace Rasterlink before we even got our printer, and I'm so glad I didn't have to get used to it at all. I personally couldn't stand it, along with the typos.
  7. Treated Lumber Prices Collapse

I sure hope we'll be so lucky! 3M price increases combined with 1+ month lead times = PITA
  8. Flatbed Cutters

We added a Summa F1612 to our shop just over a year ago. There is definitely a learning curve, and some quirks to work around, but we've been mostly happy with the purchase. Efficiencies gained: -Through-cutting decals eliminates lots of manual labor (No more kiss-cutting, weeding, and...
  9. Treated Lumber Prices Collapse

Ugh!! I spent a couple grand on treated lumber to get my front deck done earlier this summer. Oh well. Was on a mission to stick to my timelines.
  10. JPEGs turning black

I've noticed this too, exporting CMYK JPG's out of Corel 2021. Obviously a bug/glitch, as it never did this before on our older versions. Try changing to RGB - seems to work for me.
  11. Anyone Heading to a Trade Show this year?

    Yes!! Great idea.
  12. S140T Dragging blade across laminated prints

Just an update on this, one year later and we've still got a swab taped to the carriage lol. Looks like crap, works fantastic. Absolutely no scratching whatsoever anymore. I highly recommend this quick fix for anyone having issues with the blade dragging across media.
  13. Just In How to Calculate Your Hourly Shop Rate

Cool, thanks for this! Will check it out. :thumb:
  14. Anyone Heading to a Trade Show this year?

Was considering going to Printing United in Oct, but all depends how things are. Haven't been to a show in years and have never been to a big one in the US, but with all the hoops we need to go through to travel and this Delta crap (not airlines) I'm leaning towards holding off until next...
  15. Printing on back of decal

You'll likely find it challenging to print to the liner, even the 3M watermark usually looks like crap on their media/laminate liners. You haven't mentioned what kind of media/liner these would be printed on, and what type of printer/ink you would be using. UV would likely work fine, since it...
  16. Wrapping tanker trailers?

Thanks Wayne, appreciate the info. (That's the answer I was looking for) I'm leaning towards suggesting that they have it painted before we apply overlay graphics. This way they can try to match the older (probably faded) white paint - I can't get my hands on it beforehand so I don't want to...
  17. Wrapping tanker trailers?

Anyone have experience wrapping these? Customer is looking to cover up all the blue with white, then we would add cut graphic overlays afterwards. These are 2007 trailers and blue was painted on. (I don't have access to units) Any thoughts, warnings, advice, would be greatly appreciated. I...
  18. Need Help UV Printed Cast Vinyl Cracks and comes unstuck after 6 months

Print with a solvent or latex printer and laminate, problem solved.
  19. I just got asked how long it will take to print 15,000 ft. of magnets! :-D

Have you direct printed to magnet stock on a roll to roll Latex printer before? I didn't realize that was a thing.
