I would disagree somewhat. Some of the chips intel puts out have been made available to Apple before other mfr's, or so I recall, on some occasions. Though they do tend to stick with particular hardware pieces a bit long
I wish they would update their Macpro desktop a bit more often than just...
Sorry to thread pirate, but for those of you not sure what smart guides can do, here is a movie I did some time ago. Shows how to use the guides to your advantage. Should have done sound if i had a mic, to explain why I did a few things I did. Not all shapes were done in the most efficient...

Another discussion on this. Since acquiring cs5, I always keep a copy of cs3 open at all times when a job requires the use of smart guides. Maybe I can now quit doing so. It has been my pet peeve on cs5
I think I found a possible workaround to make them work more like earlier versions.

Turning on "construction guides" seems to help. I will have to work with it today
I have used them in AI versions before cs4. I thought they were added in cs1 or maybe even earlier? As I have mentioned numerous times before, I don't like the changes in cs5
Happens in cs5, maybe in cs4 too. I don't know because I skipped cs4. In CS5 it automatically snaps to anything it finds that lines up to the point you are drawing. In cs3 you tell it what to autosnap to. So if you have a very complex drawing it snaps to a dozen different aligning shapes and you...
For Mac users, I have used Linotype's font explorer X. A free version is available and it never fails me. Works on Snow Leopard, have not upgraded to Lion so I cannot comment on that OS
Ew, the lack of postscript support could be a deal breaker for me. I have been in the business a long time and 75% of my fonts are Postscript as this was THE standard in the early days of Mac design/publishing. TTF fonts were mostly associated with PC/Windows and OTF was not around yet
If it...
I would like to hear your review of this smaller Cintiq. If I got one, I would prefer the 21 or 24 inch model. When I use my wacom tablet with my laptop I hate the smaller 15 inch screen of the laptop as I am used to always working with Illustrator on my 23" desktop and allows me to see more at...
Quite possibly the #1 person for identifying obscure fonts. Not sure how he does it. I thought I was pretty good, but he is the best
And he hides behind those cool avatars. Tiki... who the heck are you? Some font god that cannot be stumped? A look back at his posts and that's pretty much all...
Another trick some of my competitors do is they don't show true before/after images on their website. They will take a good vector and then convert it to a low res jpeg and say "see what we can do" yet they make the mistake of making the jpeg so low res that makes it obvious. They show details...
Here is my take. Don't take the job unless you can provide an acceptable result. I have probably lost a few jobs and/or customers over the years but I would rather keep a higher standard than make false promises. This is directed at the R2V company, not JonMA
I try to predict what a customer is...
