What was this printed with? Eco-solvent or latex?
  2. Best way to produce this?

What about acid? they make a glass etching acid that you can apply to the glass to create a frosted look. When I was messing around with it, it did't affect the vinyl either so in theory you could apply the letters, than apply the acid wait 5-10 minutes rinse off acid and you have your...

  5. Question Just so I have this straight.........................

You guys for the most part have been a wealth on knowledge and have assisted me on several occasions. I was dropped into this industry when by boss bought a printer and basically told me to learn how to use it. I had no real prior experience or any real idea of what I was doing. I learned the...
  6. 3M wrap material

As far as one material being better than another.... I think that there are too many variables to give a blanket statement that 3m is better than Avery or Oracal. We're a 3m shop and so we use 3m but if there is a material that's better suited for a specific job or application then that's what...
  7. Need Help Latex or solvent ink for outdoor use? Which is better?

HP's Gen 3 inks are pretty awesome. Had solvent/eco-solvent for years (mimaki, roland, HP), went to HP latex 570 about 6 months ago, best move we made.
  8. Design question

No so easy in Flexi due to limited gradient functions, but you can make it in Illustrator or photoshop and save as a .psd or .png and import into flexi pretty easily. In flexi you would basically make the shape you want and create a block shadow and than fine tune it.
  9. Weird install

Not sure if this is the best option but can you do it in layers with knife tape? This way you can re-adjust the lines if you need to since it's a pretty simple shape it should be pretty easy to do the math/measurements.
  10. best printer for white and metallic printing

I think Fenris has the right idea, we use the Gerber Edge all the time and it can do metallic, white, translousants, etc... just limited by size.

IJ180CV3 with 8518, 8519, 8520 lams. Was given a kit with the IJ180MC and wasn't that impressed. The kit had to sit here for a few weeks and the graphic shrunk almost 1/4" and it started to lift . Not sure what lam they were using and not sure how the installer cleaned the rig first, but...
  12. What would you guys charge for this install?

I used to work for a beverage distributor and have done many of these. Two things that are going to be an issue, the first the sheer amount of dirt and damage on the rear door they are the worst places on the truck. The distributor says that they are going to clean them first but their going...

Up here is Alaska for a decent installer $17-$25 an hour. Where I'm at now it's low mid-low $20's but I get year round work and 5-10 hours of OT each week for most of the year. I also have Medical, Dental, and Vision for my self and wife (the company will pay 100% of the premiums for employee...

  16. Discussion Considering the switch to latex, Who's done it and Whats your thoughts

We went from 2 HP800's to two HP570's. The difference is pretty astounding. While the 570's aren't with out their own issues they are pretty awesome machines. The profiling and color consistency are pretty great and I haven't had any issues with yet. To me it seems like the machines are set...

Hi there Mike, there are multiple threads that have to do with this that you can find here If you have all the cables and cords it seems like the biggest thing you will need will be the software. While I'm not familiar with the Allen line of plotters, I'm pretty sure most cut programs will...
