  1. Adhesive Media

Have you figured out how to ship to canada yet?
  2. Flex face installation

We just installed these today, this perticular system installs like a bug screen in a window, you stretch the banner and use a metal roller to push in a rubber hose that locks in the material, it is a bit of a pain as it's difficult to put enough tension on the material, but in the end we made...
  3. top and bottom edge prints do this quite a bit!!!

I feel bad, I lie to my edge all the time, it thinks it's getting a healthy diet of Edge ready 220, but i'm really feeding it low end 3mil shinerite!
  4. Now, that's low..................................

banners have always been and will always be the "cheapest option" in the sign makers toolbelt, aimed at 2 specific groups of people, those looking for a very temporary sign, and those who come to you with too small of a budget for a real sign. You can reminisce about how it was back in the day...
  5. Design/Build: Collaboration

Not sure how relevant my concerns would be as I have only worked with an architect in these situations. However my main concerns when dealing with architects would be: 1. spec'ing product that either don't exist or are extremely difficult to source. 2. not being open to reasonable suggestions...
  6. mutoh or latex?

in 9 years of printing with Roland printers, I've never had to replace a print head, the longest we have had a single machine is 4 years. I don't know if I'm in the minority here, but I don't see print head replacement every x number of years being an issue. Maybe someone who runs their...
  7. mutoh or latex?

Neither, Get a Roland! From what I have seen/heard, the HP latex machines are great machines, when they are printing, but they seem to be finicky machines who freak out over the smallest abnormality in conditions. As for maintenance, I may be in the minority here, but I only clean my Roland...
  8. 3M vinyl problem...Have you notice?

This is the reason i try not to use 3M vinyl, for what it costs, they should be able to implement a very good QC department, however in the last 3 or so years I have seen nothing but issues with 3M vinyl. at the same time I have had great luck with Oracal, Arlon and Avery, all of which are...
  9. Staples is selling vinyl?!?

Meh I don't really see an issue here, if someone were to come to me with their own vinyl I would simply reduce the cost of the sign by my cost for the. Into since everything else is the same, and explain that I can no longer offer a warrantee on the vinyl portion of the sign. So there $500 sign...
  10. Flex face installation

I posted this in the premium section but didn't get any replies, so I'm reposting it here in hopes someone can help. I have a job coming up for a very good customer that involves replacing some digitally printed flex faces on some interior illuminated frames. I had a look at the signs they have...
  11. Floor Graphics

Alumigraphics is extremly expensive! so much so that the high price overpowers the warm fuzzy feeling that some "environmentally friendly" clients get by using a recyclable material. We use a standard 3 mil vinyl like Oracal 3651 with a textured non-slip laminate that we get from one of our...
  12. HP 360 de-lamination issues

can you post a picture? to clarify, is the laminate coming off the printed vinyl clean or is ink coming with it?
  13. 4 over trials and tribulations

Their preview system is buggy right now, I called them and they told me it was a known issue, they had me check my previews in internet explorer, Firefox, chrome, safari and none of them worked.
  14. Calendared on backlits

Like I said earlier, it's not always the fault of cheap materials, the ritrama material i posed about above was over $25/yard for 48" wide material, still failed spectacularly after 2 years.
  15. Calendared on backlits

We made a backlit out of 2 mil cast translucent from ritrama, after 2 years it looks WAY worse than that! When I called them their excuse was that you are not supposed to apply translucent vinyl to white polycarb because they shrink/expand at different rates. I asked him what i was supposed to...
  16. Tips for applying 48" wide application tape

Now we use our rolls roller, however before we got it, we used to put the roll of mask on a holder so it's above the table (see attached pic) pull off enough to cover your graphic, plus a few extra feet, stick the mask to the table and start squeegeeing! If you have more than 5 to do, it's...
  17. cable size for over the street banner?

Our city has specs that have been stamped by a engineer that all banners must be made to. The banners are installed by city crews for liability reasons. I would check with the city about exactly what they want. i've attached our city's specs to give you an idea
  18. Inexpensive paper/vinyl for eco solvent targets?

So you want to print one off posters for $0.25 sq/ft? The media is the least of your worries, the ink alone even with bulk ink will cost you that, not to mention your time to trim each poster! this might be one of these situations where it's just not worth your time! either sub it out to an...
  19. Now what do I do??...

You realize that replying to every single thread with the same copy/pasted reply is just annoying at this point right? Not to mention that your website is just pictures of icons and buzz words with no real content...
  20. best way to adhere galvanized steel to alumapanel?

Contact cement should work, just have to be careful when lining them up. other than that, you could use PL 9000 construction adhesive, spread it on with a old squeegee so its thin and even, and put some weight on it overnight. Or get some more of those 3M 468 adhesive sheets you told me about.
