  1. Rogue Roller

it really doesn't matter if the table is level. it only matters if the roller is level to the table. and truly, there are so many variables that can decide just how that table ends up, if you do pour it. i'd think that it would be easier to set the table level, pour it. then shem the gantry...
  2. Rogue Roller

i really don't get the hostility here. aren't we talking about laminating? it's such a passive subject. i did a bit of searching and it does seem that the technique of pouring your surface flat is an accepted flattening system. here's a pretty good page describing such a project...
  3. Rogue Roller

exactly. this takes up half as much space as the infeed and outfeed. i'm so tired of needing 20-24' of feed on these long substrates. this thing is the flatbed printer of laminators.
  4. Rogue Roller

perfectly level the table and pour bar top epoxy on it. then plane the edges back to clean again. let gravity to the flattening. it will fill the voids by pooling and or thinning over the hills. there may be a better thing than table top epoxy just knocking stuff out there.
  5. Rogue Roller

in don't see any springs. set a small compression spring above the wheel below the pin. something short/flat wire. that should compensate for minute differences in pitch across the substrate.
  6. Adobe CS 6 coming soon!

finally cursor support!!! miss that from using corel photo-paint way back in 1912.
  7. Mimaki Head error 007

if the printer will not turn on, then you are hooking up the data swap incorrectly, there's no other explanation. i've hooked wrong (no turn on). corrected, turns on. so blame the cable configuration and be extremely careful to get it right or you may damage the printer. by cleaning the...
  8. Mimaki Latex printer

six process colors too. something that should have been done 12 years ago. lm lc channels are probably dropped for red and blue, or possibly orange and green (which are a waste of time considering red and blue are the two most common commercial logo colors). i'm thinking with all this latex...
  9. Mimaki Head error 007

what were the results again of the data swap? or did that ever happen? ...new head immediate error from that channel only? i doubt that the any of your heads are bad (possibly fried from a short elsewhere). the slider board may be bad. take the oldest head, or better yet a clogged really...
  10. colorspan 72 uv printers?

it will be pretty obvious. pull the gantry over and get a look at the bottom the heads, look at the capping station, does it look like washed out ink or thick dried up ink, the ink tanks should be empty, etc. if the printer was decommissioned than there should only be signs of washed out...
  11. Broke jv3 manifold

two weeks is insane. solventinkonline always ships the part that day or the next day. any trace amount of solvent. the cleaning solution has glycol ethers which prevent drying. the visible surfaces may be dry but easily a tiny crevice could protect solution from evaporating.
  12. Broke jv3 manifold

keep then platens soaking. you can lightly inject some solution into the manifold. for the broken one, just use a small hypodermic needle and without sealing the manifold, stick the tiny needle in one of the tiny holes in the manifold. this will keep solution from accidentally spilling out...
  13. Broke jv3 manifold

the dampers can hang with ink in them for weeks, just dab some solution in the ends before replacing (i have my dampers hanging like this for years. no issues.). one saftey measure if you think you may have gotten solvent in the guts of the head. dunk the whole head in iso', swish it around...
  14. Encoder strip 08 error code

tbaker is right. i've done the same using pure acetone because if it's fast drying properties. the strip is PET so the strip itself is solvent resistant. the lines on the strip are on the back side of the strip, the look laser printed. i've had some pretty nasty dots of ink that would only...
  15. Broke jv3 manifold

i have a cupcake pan that has solution in it with a couple of old heads sunk (platen only) in butyl carbitol.
  16. Broke jv3 manifold

if you have an old head laying around, just pull the manifold off that one and stick it on the head (make sure to flush it out, or even ultrasonic it). if no extra parts, you need that printer to be in a continuous cap soak until the part arrives. if running cmyklmlc you may get some cross...
  17. Lease on equipment

i'm starting off with balboa capital. did a lease with them about ten years ago with no issues at all. sent my application in last night to see what kind of a deal they'll give me.
  18. New Post, New Problem JV3160S

head was vapor locked. the holes are so small coming out that sometimes the pump just isn't strong enough to squeeze the ink into them to start.
  19. New Post, New Problem JV3160S

you have to diagnose where the loss of vacuum is. have you listened for air? and if you hear air is it above or below the head? most likely symptom is damper not seated, leaking damper fittings (above), cap tops not pressing against the head platen firmly, cap tops not targeted properly...
  20. How's business?

been on the equivalent of a "shutdown" this last three months. even worked two 65+ hour days to keep up with rush deadlines on big orders. there is no limit to the amount of business that can be taken in. texas has a strong economy for sure. one other graphics guy i know is slammed beyond...
