  1. MacBook

I run a 15" quad-core i7 MBP, handles all my Adobe apps with ease, plus runs Windows through VmWare's Fusion for things like Quickbooks and MS Office. When at the office I have it hooked up to a 28" Samsung to broaden the view. :)

Lol, my great grandmother turned me on to that when I was a kid. Man, now I gotta go get a loaf of sourdough....
  3. Anyone wholesale big cut vinyl?

I believe you might have a hard time finding a 5' 5" cutter as most of the common ones limit out at 64" to match the printer. Not saying there aren't some out there, but you may even have a hard time finding vinyl that wide. Any reason why you can't print 2 halves and add in an overlap?

  5. VJ1614 CR Motor

Ah, my bad, yes the pf motor was what I was thinking. Perhaps something is on a bind? Can you move the carriage back and forth across the rails easily by hand without any drag or resistance?
  6. Bulk inks for Mutoh VJ1304

Have been running Jetbest inks for almost a year now. Very happy with them, excellent colors, almost no change from OEM.
  7. VJ1614 CR Motor

I've heard that printing heavy rolls can cause a lot of wear on the motors, but 4 months seems awfully short.
  8. R.I.P. Adam "MCA" Yauch of the Beastie Boys

Another BB fan here. My first exposure was listening to their Licensed to Ill album back in middle school. (Loved how they used classic rock loops in their music.) Been hooked since, and I can even say my son has a few of their tunes on his iPod. :) Myyyyyy pistol is loaded, I shot Betty...
  9. Bought used Roland PLEASE HELP!

Hey, don't those machines have like 6 heads? At $800/ea that will be a pricey fix if they're all dried up. Wish you luck...
  10. Alumacorr vs. Poly-metal

Ditto on all of this. The 3mm Grimco Max-Metal is a staple in my shop. It's been my "go-to" material for almost everything that needs to be more durable than coroplast. When it's on sale it's cheaper than MDO, 6mm PVC and also 10mm corplast!!! Also, the 6mm Max-Metal is very durable where...

I would give Mike Nowak a call at NSW Sign Systems. He is the owner and has a huge commercial shop that does lighted signs, channel letters, routing and they can even manufacture their own pan faces there. Mike NSW Systems LLC. 1-740-433-5887 nswsystems@gmail.com www.nswsystemsllc.com
  12. VJ1614 Nozzles will not come back

There should be black drain lines on the bottom of the capping station. Those lines go into a little junction box (going to the pump) and then those come out to the pair of clear lines that go into your waste bottle. You can either pull the black lines loose and insert a syringe that way to...
  13. VJ1614 Nozzles will not come back

Possibility that your capping station is to blame. After a while they can stop sealing as well as before, or the drain lines can plug resulting in no vacuum on the head. Best bet would be to attach a syringe to one of the drain lines (cap off the other) and gently try to pull through the drain...
  14. Midwest Meet and Greet

Hmm, might be a possibility just depends on when and where.
  15. newest employee at the shop

Congratulations - good looking kid!! I'm sure he'll be in the shop soon enough.
  16. Anyone know where to get 14ft Aluminum Signs?

You'll have to call a local metal distributor to find anything that size. (I had to do six 3x14 signs earlier this year on 1/8" aluminum which they cut from roll stock.) However, if you need only 1 you'll probably have a hard time getting it. Why not just use poly-metal and deal with the seam?
  17. Few ?'s About Wide-Format Printers

Justin, don't get your feathers ruffled. Your statement above is what drew my comments - though I wasn't trying to be mean, just honest. It is awesome what wide format printers can do in the hands of a skilled person - it is just as awesome how much money can be wasted when you don't know what...
  18. Few ?'s About Wide-Format Printers

Sorry, I just don't have it in my heart to be mean. I know this topic gets beat to death by every newbie that comes here - but I still try to be respectful. STILL, even I have to pick my chin up off the floor when someone comes in saying they want to buy a $20k printer and then say "...to...

  20. Few ?'s About Wide-Format Printers

They are a fairly new machine, so probably not too many used ones for sale yet. For starters, you need to know that aside from the printer you will have to purchase a laminator (to laminate things that go outdoors or require scratch protection; signs/wraps/decals,etc) and also a compatible...
