Pretty vague description of requirements.....
What is considered "small" to you?
How much are you looking to spend? 30k or 130k
What are you expecting to do with this machine?
I'm pretty sure those older latex printers are no longer supported (or close to it) but someone correct me if I'm wrong.
Personally I would work with a local company and get your feet wet with outsourcing first, that's what we did 10+ years ago. Got the hang of setting up, ordering and...
There are no raster or clipped images in the file? I mean those are large objects but if all simple vector paths there's no reason the file should be that big.
Just for chits and giggles, if you select all, scale down to 10% and save as, does it reduce the file size?
Interesting, I never thought of this. Where would these settings be changed? Can all marks be edited/changed? Reason I ask, when we print onyx/summa barcodes on our flatbed, it always wants to put them on the top and bottom, which wastes material. I've been manually creating marks with Summa...
One thing I'll say, is that our old Oce Arizona 318gl uses VERY little ink. I'm not sure if the Mimaki flatbeds lay down as much ink as our UCJV, but the amount/thickness of ink laid down by the Oce is much less. You can feel the thickness on the Mimaki and it shows when laminated...
As mentioned, manually creating/moving your marks outside your white material is probably the simplest width. Or just create a bounding box outside your print area so your marks move out.
When we've done this on our Rolands I would just mask off the 4 targets but Summa uses more so that...
We literally just ran into this yesterday, funny timing. Our samples were printed on what looks like .030 styrene but the front panels are translucent for backlighting, where as styrene is pretty damn opaque.
I went digging through our acrylic/lexan offcuts and like you, couldn't find anything...
Agreed.
Just to give you an idea, we closed/went on holidays for 2 weeks this summer and left all our printers sitting. Our UCJV was the only printer that had a perfect nozzle test after 2 weeks sitting unattended.
And like already said, if you're going to waste white ink it will be from them...
Is that how long it would take a seasoned FM pro to make something like that or a beginner? I really want to play around with it but like Pauly I don't want to add another distraction to my ever-growing pile.
Regarding workflow software, we're currently using Smartsheet but looking for ways to...
Sorry, missed the part where you mentioned it needs to be black.
I'd think screen printing or pad printing are probably the only options.
Or...you could print on optically clear, laminate w/ optically clear, and slap them on.
I've had (even unlaminated) decals last pretty good in the...
This also adds another $15k or so to the price tag. Not worth it in my opinion, we went went with the standard Kress router and it's been working fine for what we need. If you need a big beefy router, buy a dedicated cnc.
I get what you're saying but from what I've seen Durst is a very well respected player in the industry - they're not going to buy a smaller company just to abandon their loyal customer base. If anything, this is validation that Vanguard is being taken seriously and this will only move them...
