  1. Clear coat on brass

Sounds to me that you have overspray where you're printing, but light enough you don't see it until the top coat hits and lights the inks back up. You're topcoat, no matter what you use, is going to spread the ink a certain amount. Either that, or your clear is contaminated. Other than making...
  2. Plotting from CorelDraw, long plots...

It may be machine limited. Is there a control on the panel on the cutter that allows you to change the parameter from either "sheet feet" to "roll feed"? Or, change the length of the sheet?
  3. Stuff you've found while installing

 That's why I always bang really hard on the surface of stuff like that. Better bats than a swarm of bees...
  4. Use Corel to print to Mutoh 1324

I'd love for that to happen, but you need a dedicated RIP. I thought I had read somewhere that Corel was going to offer RIP plug-ins, but haven't seen much of anything.
  5. Stuff you've found while installing

Found a main trunk line that powered all the traffic lights for a couple blocks in a small town.. good thing we were hand digging. And it wasn't even down far enough for code. And, PA call said it was a PennDot line and they were exempt from marking those....
  6. Bad things always happen at the worst times

Ghosts in the machine. Random code generated, static charge on the port, hiccup in the file transfer.. pick one. Had an old Gerber 4B that was ultimately connected to a computer (yes, way back when..) and that would occasionally happen. Knock wood... never had it happen with my Summa in the 15...
  7. font joke

I woke up this morning at 8, and could sense something was wrong. I got downstairs and found the wife face down on the kitchen floor, not breathing! I panicked... I didn't know what to do. Then I remembered McDonald's serves breakfast until 11:30.
  8. Reflective "ghost image"

Had to do something similar with a township vehicle here. Depending on how large and/or detailed, I simply reverse cut (in my case) white vinyl and overlaid it on white reflective. You could still see a little bit of the "grey" of the reflective, but from 5 feet it was almost invisible.
  9. Out of practice...

I'd be looking at at least 45 minutes for that between the prep and application. Not only you said it was cold, but you had to take the rivet/screws out and re-install and deal with reflective...
  10. Hello from Imprintables Warehouse!

So we now have two people representing your company? Lee Tringes posted today as well...
  11. Vinyl to stick on carpet of boat??

I don't think much is going to stick for long. Those carpets are meant to be hosed off after every tournament. If they're on the floor they're going to get tore up just from walking all over them. Kinda sounds like they didn't think the project through.. maybe upsell them to removable decals on...
  12. A few recent gold and silver leaf jobs

Looks good! What did you use to seal the 'Roto-Rays' copy? Looks like clear laminate vinyl.
  13. New to CNC Routing

Hourly service rates aren't bad for a router. And I guess to have you as a customer they want to charge that to get you 'into the system' - essentially you're paying for the privileged of their knowledge. Read up on the CNC threads for speeds and feeds, lots of information on other forums as well.
  14. Picking brains - reflective over compound curve (Ford fender fold)

No options. Has to match other vehicles as closely as possible. I'm half thinking simply layering in the crease and putting separate pieces for the fender flare and fender itself. Still got to get the straight line though!
  15. Picking brains - reflective over compound curve (Ford fender fold)

That's what I was kind of thinking Gino. Lay a wide swatch of vinyl and trim with the tape?
  16. Picking brains - reflective over compound curve (Ford fender fold)

Hi guys, I'm in the midst of a large rebrand for a fire station. Several of the new trucks are based on the Ford F250 superdutys with the ugly fender valleys. Part of the job entails installing a 6" wide stripe the length of the vehicle, going over the fenders: Now, I have a hard enough time...
  17. PVC Panels on Field Stone?

My thoughts are depending on the color they are going to warp no matter what. 4 through bolts and spacers will keep that to a minimum, though. 1/2" isn't thick enough for just studs to hold against the warp.
  18. Stud mounting hdu

Through bolt it. 1" isn't enough for support.
  19. any way to spray a mask on a lacquered finish and then cut paint and remove the mask

+1 for paint mask or even a cheap cast vinyl. You'll have to keep your bits sharp or the mask with tear instead of giving you a clean edge.
  20. Paint protection for race car leading edges

Looks like a simple air scoop to me with the filter inside. That said, I have to agree with visual - it's gonna chip no matter what. That's evidenced by the clear film application under the scoop that's already chipped. But.. an easy solution other than vinyl is, and I hate to say it...
