  1. Fire apparatus...

May be hand drawn, photo from client too fuzzy! Even if I can find something close, it would beat vectorizing this! Any help would be appreciated - thanks! Rick
  2. Sign Gold Now It's Thermal Print Now It's Not

^ This. Bill Crowley is a stand up guy and even puts his cell number on his business card. I like their products, even though it has a more "even" look to it (read: machine made) than the Sign Gold, which to me had a more hand turned look to it.
  3. Lettering Library

That's quite the ambitious project, scanning all those books. Some cool stuff in there.!
  4. Best software for drawing golf holes

Unless you have the programs and computing power to do photo realism in 3D (think modern animation), it ain't gonna happen, especially turning something like that into a vector. You can't vector a mesh unless you want a million layers of color. Since you're in Australia, maybe a phone call to...
  5. Quick Sign Gold 22k Florentine Swirl Problem

Call the company, not Fellers. They'll ask for a sample for their records and probably send you a new roll.
  6. summa Cutting Off center

Did you calibrate the media? See this thread here for a similar problem and solutions: http://www.signs101.com/forums/showthread.php?117195-How-to-improve-OPOS-accuracy-on-Summa-D160R
  7. Sears national manufacturer

Fabricator for the store itself? Bid out to the lowest bidder in your area - they wouldn't send crews all around the country. Your local planning office should have all the details, just remember to look for KMart, who owns Sears.
  8. Sign Gold.... Or Not

Same thing, different owners. The guy that started Sign Gold took the technology and improved on it and started Real Gold Inc. Processes are the same, surface textures and quality are far different. Weirdly, I rather prefer Sign Gold as it has more imperfections than Real Gold, lending a little...
  9. Shout Out To Gino

It wasn't just on the boards. Gino also attacked in private messages, just unrelenting on any subject he thought he knew more on than the original poster. I'm on quite a few boards and manage more than a few... it takes quite a bit to have someone's privileges revoked.
  10. Wanted: Scrap diamond grade reflective pieces

That's funny as hell. How big is that size-wise? If it could be sliced in two, it would probably look like some exotic crystal.. I have a few scraps of DG3, but probably not enough for what you're looking for.
  11. ORACAL 970RA - Clear cote coming of the car after 3 years

Huh? Looks like the wrap was peeled off - the second photo looks like the adhesive left over. As for the paint chipping - that's new paint over old, not a clear coat. If it's been three years and your customer decided to try to remove it by himself, how is that your problem?
  12. Printed "Gold Leaf"

Been doing that for a couple years now. I wound up actually photographing a sheet of the imitation gold and massaging the image to fit whatever I was doing. I'm working on a way to have the turns follow the letters like a traditional hand-turned letter would do, but for the moment, my clients...
  13. HDU just put up, Someone hit it with a Hammer

I've gotten away with vinyl spackle and a couple good coats of sandable primer. You don't want anything harder than the HDU or it'll sand completely different.
  14. HDU just put up, Someone hit it with a Hammer

WTF? Some people just have nothing better to do. Kinda weird though.. As for the fix... take it down, and and fill the dents and repaint. Lots less hassle then trying to do it onsite. Don't forget to charge for it... sometimes the clients can submit that kind of thing to their insurance...
  15. How to improve OPOS accuracy on Summa D160R...

Through the OPOS setup on the console of the cutter (see the .pdf calibration above), you can manually enter the X value. Theoretically, the value should be the distance between markers, but if that distance is the same that the cutter is showing, then simply reduce the number by 1mm. It should...
  16. FDC Film

Been using it for at least the last 10 years or so. No real issues; some of their reflectives can be a bit brittle, like the green and blues. FDC is simply a "relabeler" and sells other manufacturer films under their own label. 3M is the big supplier, Oracal is another.
  17. A few recent installs...

 Sorry, I meant to say 'Signature'. Was typing while reading your posts... but yeah.. keeping the circles in order would drive me a bit mad. The box... thank you for that - I'll have to check out Dewalt's system. Better than carrying a bunch of cases around!
  18. A few recent installs...

:Big Laugh Drilling all those holes for 'Precision' must have been a bit of a task. I like what you're using for a work station.. can't be just a hand truck, though...
  19. How to improve OPOS accuracy on Summa D160R...

Each media will react differently as it's pulled through the cutter, hence the misalignment. Usually you can map and calibrate the media by following these steps: www.summa.be/download/opos_en.pdf
  20. How to improve OPOS accuracy on Summa D160R...

By how much is the cut off? Mine generally cuts about 1mm off the desired contour. I put that to the vinyl actually either shrinking or stretching depending on the weather, regardless of how the targets are set up for registration. If it's a critical cut (most are not) I'll re-engineer the cut...
